I'm a little confused on something. There are two vacuum lines coming from the turbo. One below the inlet and the one on the wastegate. What exactly does each do or control? The connector on mine below the inlet was torn the whole way up the side and ripped halfway around. I replaced it today and didn't notice anything different.
The one on the lower provides the pressure signal to the wastegate actuator. There are two lines because they go to the wastegate solenoid which regualtes boost pressure (it can only INCREASE boost by bleeding off the boost signal from the lower hose). The ECM can monitor boost and regulate it with the wastegate solenoid. Less boost signal at the actuator = more boost, so if there was boost leaking through the lower hose, the solenoid probably didn't have to work as much to raise boost pressure.
