Okay, as I'm sure you have read my TGP has been in the shop for 4 weeks now getting new heads put in. Well, everything is completed. This is ALL what has been done.
I'll be as specific as I can. Just one of the heads was cracked, the other was warped. So, the shop found a good used head with NEW valves. The other head was pressure checked, machined and jet washed. All valves and cams were checked. The heads were installed along with a new head gasket. The car also got a complete tune-up using AC Delco plugs, trans flush and fill - new filter, coolant flush and fill, new hoses, new control module, 160 degree thermostat, 1 new fuel injector and new intake gaskets.
Okay now....I call this jerk mechanic everyday to check on my car. And everyday he tells me, "The car is running good, but it has a slight miss under load." He is STILL trying to find out the cause of this "slight miss". He did check the cross over and it is okay. I do have a Jeff M pipe at home waiting. I am seriously getting tired of waiting, and tired of being told that my car will be done tomorrow. Tomorrow Tomorrow...blah blah blah! What can be causing this MISS that has my mechanic so stumped??? I want my car dammit!! I had it registered to be in a Philly car show tomorrow!
Ignition or fuel.
Have him check the three coils and the module. Were the plug wires replaced? If not, this should be done. Also, if he has a scan tool, have him check to see if there is any detonation or knock when it stumbles. This can be caused by many things.
Also, have him check the fuel pressure, the fuel pressure regulator, and the fuel injectors. These are some causes of stumble in the TGP engine. Hopefully he understands that this isn't just an ol' 3.1 with a turbo bolted on.

The module was replaced. It somehow got burnt up during the head replacement process.
Hmmm, how'd they manage that?
I haven't the slightest idea. I'm seriously beginning to doubt this guys mechanical skills.
I am not sure if your car is has this type of condition but here is something that can be looked at. My TGP at one point would idle great, but when I put it in drive and went to accelerate at variation, it would not move under load at all. It would sputter, stutter and buck, but dont touch it and it would idle all day. Prior to me discovering this problem I had the injectors, module and coil pack changed. So naturally I could not figure this out. I took it to a mechanic and put it on a lift, put it in drive and accelerated and went through all gears fine. When we put it on the ground it would not move. He put it on an analyzer and changed the MAP sensor and the problem went away. 8) I am not sure what kind of reaction that your car is having, but if it is like the one I had you might want to take a look at the center. Does anyone else have any ideas or experiences on this as well? :)
I have some questions for your "mechanic".
When they replaced the cracked head with a replacement, did they surface it to match the head that was warped?
If not there is certainly a compression difference from one side to the other. Have they done a compression check to make sure all the cylinders were close to the same compression? It doesn't matter what the reading is, as long as ALL 6 cylinders have the same (or similar).
My TSTE was doing something similar. What is the condtion of the CAT? If the answer to these questions sounds fine, then have him remove the right side splash gaurd, and with the engine running, wiggle the harness going to the right side electrical center. If the engine runs differently while wiggling the harness, EACH fuse terminal needs to be removed, cleaned and tightened. This is what was wrong with my car.
Of course there is always the possibility of a faulty plug, wire, sensor, injector, or just Friday the 13th.
Sounds like a bad plug wire to me... :drinking:
