Hey Chris

Do you know if a 90 TGP would have all the harnesses in the car to addthe security lighting feature? I know they dropped it in 89, but I was wanting to add that to my 90. I never realized that there was door wiring involved with the security lighting, I thought it was just the headlight switch that you needed to get to have that feature.

Thanks

Luke

Yes and no.

I've added the headlight switch to a car and it will give you delayed lighting when you turn the car off. But it won't turn the lights on like it should when you pull the door handle like an '89.

I started to look into it but never got there. The wires are different colors, but appear to be in the right location. All of the door wiring is different to accomodate the switch in the handle and lighting for the key hole. However, something is different because I plugged in the harness inside the drivers kick panel and the door would not activate the security lighting, so that is as far as I got. The STE has the security lighting, so I was going to compare the wiring for the STE to the Coupe, but never did. So it can be done, and I am thinking that it just needs an added wire, but don't know for sure.

Is it possible to make the interior lights come on when you use the RKE?  With the security lighting I thought that would happen, but I guess I was wrong.

You could make a relay that was grounded through the ignition switch so that when the door unlocked it tripped the door switch circuit. With the ignition on, both sides of the relay would be powered, so it would not turn the lights on when you hit the lock driving down the road.

Thats the quick idea version, it would need more thought but could be done, just not super easy. Future versions of the RKE box can do it, but they are very difficult to wire in.
