Ok, I'm planning on installing my front mount intercooler SOMETIME this summer onto my TGP. I know that when going to a larger intercooler, you'll loose .5-1 psi.
Since the stock psi is around 7-8, and the TopGun chip brings it up to 12psi, and I'd loose 1psi with a FMI. Could I use a manual boost control to turn the boost up 1-1.5psi back to the 12psi?
The only way you will see 12# is to change the waste gate actuator or put a hefty spring on yours. The stock actuator blows open around 8#. I am not sure how high the chip will let you go but you would find out after moding the waste gate actuator. If you can't get your 12# then go to a boost controller.
jud
wouldn't running even 1psi lower make basically no difference since your front mount intercooler is larger and should cool the charge better than the stock TGP intercooler thereby making the car use the air more efficiently or take in more dense/cooler air?
the mbc can be set at just about what ever you want. Drop in temp is good no matter what. Cooler makes more power period. You got the crossover yet?
The FMIC< if it is a more efficient unti, shouldnt see more than .5 psi loss. As far as a MBC, I have used them on numerous turbo cars, and they are marginal at best. The TGP REALLY does not like them. Pic up a GReddy, or Apexi unit from ebay or somewhere, you will be much happier with the electronic unit.
I got my pipe put on a month ago. I love it. I'm going to get chipped on Saturday. Going to also try to install my new gauges soon too.
