Title: OBD or similar question
Post by: tyroelite on July 12, 2003, 09:08:50 AM
I am looking to write some software that will display a graphical output of my cars performance. I would like to keep track of things like speed, top speed, temperatures, boosts, etc.  I know there are chips you can install onto OBD II connectors that will do this. (I believe their intended function is to allow parents to monitor kids driving habits etc.) Does anyone have info on which pins that info comes to?  I know you can find the diag. codes by jumping the top right 2 connectors but I am wondering if things like speed are supplied to it constantly also.  Also, the DIC has these sorts of sensors but my car doesn't have a DIC in it. Can anyone tell me where the wires from the DIC go in order for it to receive its information?

I'm pretty sure that the DIC doesn't have it's own sensors for collecting information. I'm pretty sure that it uses data from other sensors to calculate the information it displays.

Where are the sensors that the DIC gets its info from? I figured that would be the case but I can't follow the wires far enough to find where they go. I lose the path up behind the passenger side dash.
