it said ported heads...so I'm assuming he has stock ported heads and one of the Crane cams available for our cars...Max...weren't you the one that relocated the coil packs and had a hole cut in the fenderwell to swap cams through???? There are a few cams available from GM that are "performance" cams although I believe they are all made by Crane...Lunati makes a cam that works for 2.8's/3.1's also(I believe Ben aka Vegeta on the w-body board has one in his NA 3.1 GP).......so which cam did you choose since those debates about cams a good while back never really produced much of an idea on what to use in a turbo application and what kind of increase in power did it do? noticeably faster on the "ass" dyno??
Using the crane cam, I beleive it's a compucam. No, not the one that did the coil pack move. Motor was out of the car when I did the heads(had to do the trans at that same time, so I dropped the entire cradle). The heads are stock heads, just ported. It's a daily driver, so I'm trying to keep it as reliable as possible. As far as the cam goes, it's alright. Not much more than stock, but the lobes on my stock unit looked pretty bad. Nice little ridges. It was cheaper to get the crane cam than to get the stock cam. I don't know which one made the bigger difference, but the car seems to breath better and the turbo spools faster. Wehn we did the heads, we also port matched the intake and exhaust manifolds, as well as the throttle body. Our next step is a better IC and hardpipes, as well as a GReddy BOV. I should say, we will if I decide to keep the car.
BTW, The tires are Kuhmo Ecsta Supra 712's. 245/50zr16
was the comp cam the 2030?
2020. Summit has it listed as being through 89, but it bolts fine into the 90 3.1 block.
