Title: aftermarket gauges
Post by: no1kicker on August 01, 2003, 02:56:17 PM
I'm thinking of getting a pillar pod soon and might go with some autometer gauges.  The only thing I don't like about them are the needles.  Could I take them out and put one in say the little needles we have on the cluster for fuel, oil pressure, temp, and make it work?  Would I screw up the gauge if I tried?

The gauges don't come apart. So you would screw up the gauges if you tried.

I bought Autometer Z-Series for my TGP. It's a black face, black face ring, white letter gauges that match our dash gauges perfectly. Or you can get the Autometer Sport-Comp gauges with the silver ring instead of the black.

But I would go to your local parts store and buy 194R  bulbs instead of using the bulb condoms.

I like the Pro-Comp series better. The gauges are liquid filled   The only thing I don't like is that their boost gauge only goes to 20 PSI

Yeah my autometer only reads to 20 PSI but um....In what car are you running more then 20 PSI in??? I run 15 on the street and maybe a little more (16-17) at the track, but more then 20, I dont know how the TGP could handle that!

It can..with upgrades.     However, it would also require a MAP sensor upgrade, which is the one thing I haven't figured out yet. But I like the option of having the gauge go above 20 in the event that I do figure it all out.  :D

I run over 20 psi in the Supe all the time. The TGP should handle it fine with good supporting mods.
