I did a little work to the TGP and she is running very smooth now. It still chugs at 3500 and wont go above that but thats in neutral and park only (is that normal with a turbo?). I got her to 5000 just down the side street last night, very smooth acceleration, I had to drive the GTP just to compare the feel, the TGP feels better with no hesitation.
I want to get it out and do a real run but it is not registered and uninsured. I dont need the cops to fck with me.
What I dont like are the brakes!! They feel funny, like a bit mushy. When the brakes are used it sounds like they are being charged up all the time. I did some reading about these brakes and cant find much about the normal operation of them. What gives??? Fluid levels are fine, the peddle never goes to the floor but sometimes it feels like it wants to. Whats the weak link here??
I found most of the answers i was looking for.
Now whats your experience the the brakes? Ever had this problem before? What fixed it? Is it even broken? I have no lights at all.
It could be alot of things with the brakes. You need to do a complete brake inspection first to make sure the caliapers are functioning correctly.
Determine for sure if the pump motor is running with every pedal press. If it is the you most certainly need an accumulator. Then you may want to replace the fluid and bleed the lines and master cylidner.
There is a 3k rpm cut in P/N in case that wasn't one of the things you found out.
Chris thanks for the info about the 3k cutout. It makes a lot of sense. And Yes the pump runs at every peddle application, so whats involved with the accumulator? Are they out there or is this an elusive part? How much is involved in changing it? I'm on a budget with this car. What other cars have this accumulator so I can get a used one?
alright I found what I was looking for again.. Search is a great thing!!!!
I replaced an accumulator and it wasn't bad. I had someone pull the engine while I used a 1/2 ratchet with a 17mm? socket. However I put on a used one and now I need another one. I have the prior one with the nut on the back so it's going to be a little harder this time. Anyone have any tips?
I checked out the price for the accumulator at GM parts direct and they are fcked up royally!
Type in the part number and you get a price of about $88. Put it in your cart and the price goes up to over $200. WTF!
Yeah they never updated the price. Plus shipping it's almost $300 for the accumulator. Best bet is call Prior, their acc. is $89 or $99 I can't recall, but its more difficult to change, but not too bad.
The chugging at 3500 is normal in park or neutral. Rev limiter. As far as the brakes, welcome to the wonderful world of pmIII. they suck, to asy the least.
New accum fixed it. A guy was going to buy the car but is having $$$ problems and has to wait. I dont want to let the car just sit most of the winter so I am going to do more work. I already got 4 wheels for it. They are silver but there not gouged like the old ones were.
