Title: servicing the brake accumulator
Post by: 95GTP on October 17, 2003, 07:05:13 PM
Does anyone know if you can service the brake accumulator?  I can get compressed nitrogen (aircraft stuff) and I can get fittings.  What does the bottle look like? does it have a servicing fitting?  This repair would cost me JACK!  Worth a try right, beats $200++.

good question.  If you have the stuff, might as well try it.  If it works, you could maybe help some of us out.  8)

No it can't be serviced. I uses a bladder inside that isn't rechargable.

Its going to be worth a try.  I'm going to order one and try to get the old one serviced.  Its like an aircraft brake accum.  Same principles in use with the system also.

Hey my book sez 1200psi for the bottle and the motor charges the system to 2700psi.  Thats alot of pressure!!!  No freakin bladder will hold that much pressure.  Sorry but I'm a flight engineer and I know hydraulic/pneumatic systems, on aircraft they are 2900-3200psi.

Well, the bladder is not charged with 2700 psi, the pressure builds against a bladder that is internally charged with nitrogen 800 to 1200 psi (it can range, but precharge should not be less than 800 psi).
