Title: Cracked Vacuum Line
Post by: jheiv on November 13, 2003, 07:51:37 PM
I went to look into this irratic idle and stalling problem I'm having and one of the vacuum lines is cracked.   I can put my fingers on it and feel it sucking at idle.  I don't really think this is my problem.  It is the vacuum line that runs into the T right under the plenum.  Any Ideas?  What would this cause?  Can I buy indivuidal vacuum hose and cut it to replace?  Or do I have to by a stock part?  Thanks all.  :D  :D

Is this the same line that Jeff told you to check for the fuel pressure regulator on your other post? If it is the same...fix the line and see how much your performance goes up!!

You ask what would cause this? Not to sound like an ass  ...but 14-15 years of life under a high temperature hood will eat each and every piece of plastic under the hood my friend...8)

The vacuum line to the FPR was cracked...in two places.  It fixed my rough idle for the most part, however the rest of the issue seems to be in the ignition system.  Also, I checked all my vacuum lines, most were leaky to some degree, and hard and brittle as grandma's bones.  Vaccum line is cheap and easy to repair as I have found.  I would recommend anyone with a rough idle, or anyone with even the slightest doubt of whether there is a leak to change them.  It's quick and worth it.

I  replaced the lines. It is  a kit with the T's and rubber connectors. It's still availible from GM, although a real good auto parts house would have straight hard lines and connectors, however some of these are formed.

What would one ask for at the dealer when buying that set?

I believe the part# is: 10114903    They call it a harness. I paid $27 for it.
