Title: Zero Compression.
Post by: jheiv on November 25, 2003, 05:59:53 AM
Hey, I don't know if anyone is aware of my problem but heres a little bit of background... I had a real rough idle when my engine was warm.  I had black smoke coming out often and my car would stall alot.

Here's what I did, replaced MAP sensor, wires, plugs, alternator.  Now, I still have that rough idle and stalling problem.  I stuck a compression gauge on the cylinders, I got zero compression on the cylinder that had a bad (open) wire before.

Also, perhaps related, earlier (about 2 months ago), I had a valve tap coming from the block, I could never figure out what it was, and I guess it just went away one day unnoticed.

What do you think?  Valves?  Piston Rings?  What would the parts cost/ time labor/etc -- Thanks.

broken pushrod causing zero compression on 5th cylinder power stroke... causing fowling of plugs and flooding. thanks.

black smoke caused from clogged CAT.
