Title: A Pillar Gauge Pods?
Post by: MonteSSgtp on January 07, 2004, 05:31:09 PM
Hello everyone!! Im new this forum hoping to buy a Turbo Grand Prix in the next few weeks. Well i did some lookin around and didnt see any post for this but im sure there is. But here is....

I'm lookin for a pillar gauge pod that will fit my grand prix...which ones are you guys using? Because as far as i know there isnt a aftermarket one for our cars.

I have a vacuum and trans temp in my 1992 gtp and it looks rediculous just hangin out on my dash.

Hi. You're correct, there aren't any pods that are made specifically for our cars. You do have a couple options though.

A)You can custom mold and paint a universal pod onto a stock pillar.

B)You can get Autometer guage mounting cups and mounts your gauges onto your pillar or dash neatly.

C)You can get a universal dash gauge pod and mount them that way.
http://www.streetbeatcustoms.com/interior-gauge-pods-dash-pods.html sells a low profile "wedgie" type dash pod. There's another style dash pod, but I can't find pictures of it on a website except for www.ebay.com

You might want to look into a mustang piller pod... if i remember correctly someone modified one with some modlers cement and sanding and painting... if i remember correctly...

I think your best bet is to buy a universal pod then make a trip to a wrecking yard and buy another A-pillar and mold the pod onto it.  That way you don't mess up your original.  That's what I plan on doing when the time comes.  It will take a little bit of work but I love doing stuff like that.

Go to JC Whitney.com if I remember right they have guage pods for our cars.  At least for 88-95 Grand Prix's.
