"It is half the upper plenum off of a stock 2.8L intake and half of the center section from a 350 TPI engine. I will be using the throttle body from the TPI setup. That is 2 throttle plates of 48 mm versus the single throttle plate of 48 mm that is on the car right now. The section of the 2.8L that is covered by the other piece has been completely cut out. The inside of that area has been bored to remove as much restriction as possible."

That's pretty cool, but wouldn't it have been easier if just swapped in a V8?

Jeff, I bought an engine this past weekend. Hope to get it within the next few days. :D
If I had a f-body V6 (I did have one), I wouldn't bother with it, V8 is the way to go. Just wanted to post this guy's project. Not sure if it's worth it for the gains, but interesting nonetheless.
I did a v6 --> v8 conversion, wasnt pretty but it ran...then i yanked the engine and parted the car out =)

my buddy has a 91 firebird that came with the 3.1 and he put a 95 LT1 in it the swap went great and the car is so sick now .............it chirps the tires shiftin into 3rd gear at 75mph!!!!!!!! :twisted: im gonna race him but we have to wait for it to warm up and the rds to thaw out or else neither one of us will get traction
