Title: Mirror control
Post by: TGPRobNY on February 04, 2004, 08:36:06 AM
The mirrors on my '89 TGP do not work in all positions. I bought a used controller and it exhibits the same symptons, which may eliminate a faulty controller. Could it be the mirror motors themselves or the door jamb wiring? Thanks!

I'm willing to bet it's cracked solder joints, like GM is famous for. The one in my 89 SE would go left and that's it. Took the one out of my TGP which works perfect. I'm going to try touching up the solder on the other one and see if it works.

Those mirror controllers are in a really bad position on our style of doors/windows. The rain or snow will get them everytime! Check your wire connector plug for corrosion in the pin. Especially if it is acting the exact same way the other did. If it is slightly different then you may have gotten ahold of another faulty switch to replace your original switch!  8)
