:( The trans in the TGP went out on me Wednesday night on my way home from the first trip since bringing it out of storage thanks to my crappy winter beater. I locked it in between two gears while I was coming to a stop. I hope to have it back soon since its costing me $1400 to have it rebuilt. I only paid $1400 for the car when I bought it. Also they said my freeze plugs were bad so they replaced them ($5) but its a $400 dollar repair if the trans wasn't already out. Any buddy have any ideas on what else they could check for me that the trans is out and now has easy acess?
Well, for starters, I'd make sure they realize the internal parts are different on the TGP trannys vs. the regular 4-speeds. If they replaced it with anything less, it ain't holding up very long.
You need to REPLACE the cooler in the fender and/or add a front mount stacked plate trans cooler. You burned up OD and locked the trans. Heat does this and the only way to get rid of it is with BIG coolers. Also, rear main seal should be checked/replaced. I would say crank sensor too, but leave well enough alone there.
 Well guys never take a TGP to Altamore's in Belvidere IL. I waited over a week to get her back with the rebuilt trans in. Well I got to drive my baby about a whole 500 feet and she burnt up. Don't know what the hell happened yet but all I know is that she has to stay in the shop a little longer. I'm going through boost withdrawl right now and I'm like a women on her rag. Oh well atleast she'll have a good tranny in her with a 12 month 12000 mile warranty when its all said and done.
