Title: leaky powermaster??
Post by: skalor on February 23, 2004, 07:39:19 PM
I just removed my powermaster from my TGP in order put in the 5 speed clutch master cylinder.  Anyways, long story short I unbolted the powermaster and took it out of the car.  Now, where the rod sticks out from the firewall, in the round hole there is some brake fluid there.  I'm thinking that I need to get my powermaster rebuilt.  Is this where the housing is prone to cracking or do I just need to get it rebuilt because the piston is leaking??

Is it just a slight amount of brake fluid there? If so, I've read that it's normal and results from the lubricating action of the master cylinder wiping seal.  Someone else that knows the cashmaster3 might be able to tell you more on this.  It could also be a damaged seal due to contaminated brake fluid(oil or water in it over a long period of time destroys the rubber seals).

It was about a teaspoon of brake fluid, and I'm just worried as I don't have the money right now to deal with the "walletmaster III".     I was intending to replace the accumulator with a Prior one since it's will be easy to do when the whole thing it out, but I hope I don't have to replace the whole thing.   :x
