Let me start off w/ stats on the car.
701XX miles on her, meticulously maintained
-Mods-
-Topgun 160 chip & 160* t-stat
-exhaust work consisting of a high-flow cat(magnaflow/catco) and a resonator(no mufflers).
-ractive intake(that came on the car) for the two runs I made(I wanted to make a few passes w/ this setup and then try my K&N filter directly on the turbo..but my girlfriend didn't really want to wait another two hours or so until I'd be able to make another pass or two  I guess she stays home next track night )
-X-over in the car is stock as far as I know(looks like the stock ones w/ the stock heatshield).
-Jack/spare tire were removed, first run I aired the tires(stock size Goodyear RS-A's w/ a great deal of tread on them) down from 32psi to 25psi and I didn't spin the tires before running. Second run, I aired the tires down to 20psi and spun enough to clean them off. I brake torqued to right at 2K on both runs.
Track I ran at was the Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, GA..it's at ~1100ft above sea level as far as I know.

TGP @ track(I took other pics..but none turned out too good w/ my camera acting up).

Another that turned out "ok"

Anyways, I think even at the 1100ft track that w/ a better launch I might be able to get the TGP down to a 14.6 at very least w/ this same setup..I think the intake I had on the car was holdng me back up top because it didn't feel quite as strong up top as it does on the street when I usually run the K&N on the turbo. By the way, on that .498 reaction time..the redlight did not illuminate :?: .... .002 from perfect..lol.. Next time I hit the track, I think I'm going to remove the headlight and maybe the foglight as well to see if it helps a tad.
I was just looking at my time slips and they say March 20th..I guess the timeslip machine skipped the date up by one(unless my calendar and computer are wrong)...my watch as of the beginning of this week actually skipped the date up by one on its own as well(day was right, they set seperately on my timex)...odd?
Good job!
I was looking the other day, and it would do us no good to remove the headlight since the battery and coolant tank are right there. But the foglight would be a better idea. Don't know how much it will help, but I plan on giving that a shot tonight when I go.

I've been thinking about buying one of the regular coolant bottles that mounts on the passenger side over the ECM and putting that in and then removing the stock one, and putting in a custom airbox with a tube coming in from the headlight area.
I'm still trying to figure out if/exactly how I am going to do this, but I think it may work.

Oh please do keep us posted if you do it. I happen to find the engine bay real estate taken by the stock coolant tank extremely valuable and if you can manage to eliminate it; I'd be very pleased to hear the details. :headbang:

http://www.members.aol.com/platjblser/images/tgpc.jpg  not sure what *all* year GP's had this style coolant bottle(my 93 SE has it..I think all 91-93 GP's had this style though..I know 94 DOHC's have a diff coolant bottle).
I still don't think you will have enough room to fabricate anything much up in front of the turbocharger, you might be able to squeeze in a heatshield of sorts to shield the cone from soaking up the heat coming off the turbo and engine. Have you guys ever taken a look at this part of Chris A's site http://aldridgec.home.att.net/TGP/Engine/air_filters.htm that intake that Jeff I. used to make(?) looks like it might be a good idea for limited use(track only?..or dry days)...although the bends in it might hinder flow some.

WOW!!!!! That's Fantastic!!!! Do you know the capacity of that??? Or GM the part number??? Is it still at a sufficient level to allow gravity to work properly with the overflow/radiator fluid level?
I was thinking of swapping coolant overflow to there and then installing the alcohol injection bottle in the old coolant tank place, but now I'm thinking just leave the coolant tank where it is and use this HUGE new coolant tank AS the alcohol injection reserviour!!!

I'll get the part number off my coolant tank in the 93 GP tomorrow and see if I can figure out the capacity of it. It works properly w/ my 93 GP so I don't see why it wouldn't work fine on a TGP(although, I haven't ever really paid much attention to where the line going to the coolant reservoir connects on the TGP's radiator).
GM part # 10239079 is for the style coolant reservoir pictured above. I don't know the capacity of it, but if I had to take a guess, I'd say it will hold ~2-3qts.
Do you have to take off the black plastic side piece there and use the bottle for the same purpose, or does the bottle go on top of the black plastic piece there? I could look on my sisters '93 GP to see, but I'm lazy.
Also, how much does one of those bottles cost???
Thanks,
Shawn
You're likely going to have to remove the black piece on the TGP's to place the bottle like it's meant to go(there is a little stud near the strut cover plate on my 93 that a edge of the coolant bottle slips over as well as a 10mm bolt going through the cross-directional brace to hold it on(that's the only two things holding the bottle there). I looked up the number at gmpartsdirect and it says dealer list is ~$30, it was ~$17 through GMpartsdirect.
The overflow line connects to the radiator at the neck for the rad. cap. The Cutty connects in the same area, then the line connects at the bottom of the big tank that covers the ECM area. Grand Prix should be the same. HTH.
did the sae thing to my 1989, just drove it from CO to TX with no problems.
There are 3 plastic picese for this conversion. The overflow bottle itself, the cover over the electrical center( or you can trim your's off) and a piece that covers the wires in front of the alt(never put that one on).
3 holes to drill, top 2 are easy. Bottom one takes a little effort. Like a rt angle drill. Glad I put mine in when the motor was out.
