I am installing an aftermarket boost gauge in my TSTE and I am trying to figure out where I am going to mount it. I can't really find any places that look decent and are easy to see when driving down the road.
Any suggestions would be great!

yes, a pillar... i'm gonna do a custom molded a pillar w/ 3 cups for boost temp and A/F i think
That requires getting a custom pillar made (or maybe buying one if someone makes them??). I just want a place where I can mount it without having to do anything like that. Besides, an a pillar with only 1 gauge in it would look very odd, and I don't really want or need any other gauges.

yea, it would take some custom work, but i'm doing a lot of custom work this summer so that shouldn't be tough at all. Maybe I'll even make a few of those A-pillars if it isn't too tough. Other than that i'm not sure where you'd put it. and your right, one guage would look a little funny on the a-pillar.

I think a single pod wouldn't look that bad as long as it sits nice and low on the pillar. If you were to put it in the middle, yes, it wouldn't look right. The a-pillar is the only place I think gauges look right on our cars. I really don't like the look when people just stick them on top of the steering column (just my opinion).
Non WB A/F gauge will do you no good. You can barely read it anyway. The p/o of Sunshine had an A/F gauge and it just flashed alot. Now, a WB w/ an actual numerical read out would be worth it. FWIW, there is a gauge pod in the car. He didn't know what app. it was from, and he hacked it up and then just used screws to hold it in there, but hey, it works I guess. :roll:

I think it looks very bad also. But I don't have a lot of money and don't really want to spend a lot of money to mount this gauge. I also REALLY don't want it on the steering column. I know there has to be a good place for it, I just can't find it. I just thought maybe some of you could give me some suggestions on other ways to do it. There has to be more than one decent place to mount gauges in this car.

What good is that going to do me??? I can't tune the air fuel ratio at all, so what does it matter? Thats my opinion. I also don't think they are worth the money at all.

the only time they seem useful (to me) is during WOT, when there is no flashing. i would feel alot better if i was racing someone or going down the strip and saw that there were 9 out of 10 bars lit up. if there wasn't - time to get your foot out of it and check things out. if the motor is running lean i want to know about it! i see it as more of a diagnostic tool or just peace of mind - not something that i would tune anything with.

I have a feeling that the stock chip, and probably even the topgun chip when I get it, are going to do someting about the A/F ratio WAY before I notice it. With all of the fuel cuts and everything in those chips, it would be pretty hard to blow up the engine. I know its a nice thing to have, but I would rather not have it in my way.
My dad doesn't have ANY aftermarket gauges on his low-mid 12 second GTP (hopefully 11 second GTP, haven't been to the track since the latest mods) and he drives it on the street all the time and doesn't worry about it, its his daily summer driver.
I understand why some people would put an A/F ratio gauge in thier car, but its not something that would benefit me at all IMO. I would sooner get an amp meter (probably not a bad idea, didn't think about it 'till just now), or something like that.
I still can't believe that nobody can come up with anything other than the a pillar....thats a shame.

How about next to the DIC on the pass side? If you get a universal pod like this:

.... you could get creative and take the controls for the radio out of the steering wheel, then do some custom install work and mount your guage in the center of your wheel... just an idea. ;) not the greatest, but its an idea.

If I wasn't constantly using the radio controls, then that wouldn't be a bad idea...but I'm not giving those things up!

That isn't a bad idea. I will consider that. The only problem with that is you have to look way over there to read it, but no bad. Where can you get one of those pods at and how much are they?

You can probably get a pod like that off ebay, or autozone. You can look through the autometer catalog at AZ or pep boys if you can't find one. Also pep boys has a huge accesory catalog that might have one too.

i mounted mine in a autometer cup and screwed it to the side of my steering column. it looks decent.
