Post by: GPChief on August 13, 2002, 09:40:27 PM
What have you guys seen as a common starting point for a cruise control not working?  Am going to do a vacuume test on the diaphram, then check for power....any ideas / suggestions.

I would say exactly what your going to check. Or what's the chances that the switch inside the turn signal lever went bad or has a loose connection?

I had cracked open vacume hoses on nipples of diaphram,
better yet, check that the 2 vacume lines leaving the throttle body
will hold vacume.

Hey!
Anybody by chance happen to have the special cover that goes over top the turbo to protect the cruise servo from self-igniting? My car was involved in a small hood fire due to owner negligence by spraying that PB's Blaster crap on the turbo to get a stuck bolt out to get my turbo remanned and it settled in the cover which later in the week ignited on the highway, burning half of my wiring and stuff.. I managed to get the wiring right after a week of tinkering, but i have no cover protecting all the rest of the stuff.. please help!

Did you check the cruise control brake pedal cancel switch under the dash? Sometimes the brake pedal can push it out of the hole where it is mounted. If that has happended the cc would not work.

The problem was a small crack  in one of the lines closest to the fender.   Took a small piece of washer hose put silicone in it and slid it over the cracked area, works like a charm once again.
