Title: Changing a TGP into a 2.8 Multi-Port FI Grand Prix???
Post by: 90TGP on August 14, 2002, 05:56:00 PM
I was thinking of removing the TGP badges from the car doors and replacing them with some 2.8 Multi-Port FI badges that I got off of a wrecked Chevrolet EuroSport. Then replacing the rear badge with a regular Grand Prix emblem. Whatcha think??? [Puts on flame suite]

  what a stupid idea. Why would you ever want to degrade your TGP like that! Its not bad enought that no one knows what a TGP is, then you are going to hide the fact by taking off your TURBO emblems! HUmph....

:D  Actually its a good idea, just do it carefully. makes it kina a sleeper to the untrained eye. I know guys who won't get raced because it says turbo.

That's the reason why I can't get any races, it says turbo. I had some tool in a Probe SE weave in and out of traffic to get next to me at the light. He succeded, then he looked at my turbo badge on the door. He went white and busted a move into the Best Buy parking lot.

I think its just time to start racing a higher caliber of competition, rather than trying to mask your vehicle's identity so you can kick the ass of 16 second mobiles...   just my opinion.  The TGP doesnt appear as a Ferrari F40 to begin with, I think most people see it and go "oh wow a front wheel drive family car" so my problem on the street is I can't really get ENOUGH races and I have all my badges on and they dont care if it says turbo or not, the fast stuff usually isn't interested in racing a family car.

I always wind up with the Ford Focus ZX3 POS's or the N/A Eclipses pulling up and wanting to race. Usually get the...that thing needs a Turbo to pull it along it's so big! So funny how they don't even look over at me when THEY finally get to the next light

I looked up the specs of a 91 GTP [since that's as far back as they go] on KBB.com

The GTP isn't much bigger then a 98+ Prelude.

1991 GTP
Wheel Base: 107.5"
Overall Length: 193.9"
Width: 70.9"
Height: 52.8"
Curb Weight: 3323lb

1998 Prelude
Wheel Base: 101.8"
Overall Length: 178.0"
Width: 69.0"
Height: 51.8"
Curb Weight: 3042lb

Not that much difference huh?
