I just removed the cat, replaced with straight pipe. Done. Now I think I blew a seal or something because when I hammer the gas, I get my boost gauge up to 0 but then it stops. I lost that boost I loved. I unplugged both of the vac lines going to the solenoid from the turbo... still didn't help. The wastegate modulator seems to work too-- I can pull the linkage and hear and feel it move, pulling the linkage also pressurizes the actuator on top of the turbo so I dont think the actuator diaphragm is broken. I think I've narrowed it down to after the turbo, as it seems the linkage [and wastegate] is working. Does this sound right? Any ideas what is happening? And could this be related to my water pump leaking on the other side of the engine? Any ideas are welcome -- thanks in advance.

p.s. my turbine wheel spins with no problem... no coked up oil, no shaft endplay, no compressor wheel/housing contact.
ALSO, when i had the cat off [open header  ] I had GREAT BOOST like best I've ever seen it-- I also threw 31s all over [overboost]-- should I try resetting the computer now that I have my exhaust back attached?
check all of your connections from the turbo to the IC and the IC to the throttle body. make sure your not leaking boost anywhere. if thoes are all fine, then i would check again to make sure the wastegate is opening and closing. if the gate does not close then you will not build boost. try putting the fronts on jackstands and run it in gear and have someone watch the sollinoid move for sure. BE VERY CAREFULL TO PUT THE CAR ON JACKSTANDS PROPERLY SO THE CAR DOESN'T FALL OFF OF THEM WHILE YOUR GOING THROUGH THE GEARS!!! did you replace the wastegate or something, or what was going on that you suddenly are not boosting. I forget :(
you would not have a boost problem due to your coolant leak. non related. if the turbin is spinning up and hitting 0psi and stopping then to me it sounds like a wastegate issue. the wastegate is what regulates the boost. it would not get up to 0psi if the turbo wasn't feeding air into the motor, it would stay down in the vacuum.
you can try resetting the PCM. the computer may have got pissed. do you have a ses light or a code still? if not then it may not be the problem

This is most likely the problem.

While I'm sure some may have done this, I don't recommend it. If there is no load on the engine, it will be difficlut to build boost. The axles are at full droop and its not good for them. The car could come loose too easily and kill someone.
There are plenty of reliable ways of testing boost without trying to visually confirming it. If you unplug the wastegate from the vacuum line, then it most assuredly will build boost. You have to be careful since it will over boost.
