Title: Shorter Shifter
Post by: maximage on April 25, 2004, 10:05:11 AM
I know there really is no point on an auto car except for asthetic reasons, but thats exactly why I want to do it. I have a spare shifter, and I REALLY hate how tall mine is. I want to make it so the bottom of the shift handle is no more than 1/4" over the console in any position. How hard do you guys think it will be?

Thats probably going to be a little tough considering the arc the shifter moves through. Shortening it won't be a big deal, but the 1/4" may be optimistic.

I was playing with mone tonight, and it can be done, but will only be about 1/16" off the console, but it should work. I'd even be happy with a 1/2" gap just to make it safe, sa long as I can get rid of the T'd off horsecock that's in there.
