Well I have the ARP head Stud Kit From ARP
since the 3.1 60* V6 has head bolt locations in the block that don't bottom out....................
they thread through into the Water Jackets in between the cyl's
how do you install these????
I called ARP and the guy said to CLEAN all the coolant residue out of the Head Bolt holes and use a thread sealant when installing......
also remove all oil and petrol products from both the studs and the hole locations.....before installing
questions i have
-how far do you thread them in???? (just after the threads disapear?)
-what type/brand of thread sealant????
any help is welcome

Darn you made me dig mine out... just as well, I'll be using them on the red 89's motor in a couple weeks...  :shocked!: :hockey: :drinking:
Just to where there is about 1/8th of a thread showing.
Teflon thread sealant, I don't have the GM part number on this handy...
Thanks Jim
I have some Permitex teflon thread sealant which works good on other stuff i use it on......
i will give that a try.......
i have to go buy a tap the the threads also because my $100 kit doesn't have one!!! :x
any other way of cleanining out the threads??? small wire brush or drill attatchment????
i want the make sure i get a good clean bond with the studs.....
The best way is to run a tap down them, then spray, brake clean or contact cleaner down them, and blow them out afterwards. :drinking:
