Title: sunroof question?
Post by: TGPrix. on June 02, 2004, 04:42:52 PM
Okay, so I've noticed that alot of TGP pictures I look at have tha sunroof that pops up out of tha car. And at first I just thought it waz just tha red one's that came with tha optional sunroof, being that they look more sporty then tha black one's. But I guess NOT, cause I waz doing a search around this site and noticed tha there's actually a couple black one's that do tha same thing. And so I was wondering... Is my sunroof broken if it can only go inside my car, and not pop out like tha bit I've seen? I'm simply just wondering, cause my friend just got a red one(same year az minez(90)) and hiz pops out and doesn't go in and minez goes in and doesn't pop out!. So Yeah, I really don't know, but I really like tha look of tha pop out sunroof. Could someone please answer me this...

Thank you.

They should pop out and go in under the headliner. Can you hear the motor running when you try to pop it out? Same for your friend when he tries to put it in?

REALLY?

hmm, well NO I can't hear tha motor running when I close my sunroof from being tucked in, It just stops when it closes(tho it does pop out alittle from tha roof of tha car, which fucks up tha liner around my sunroof). What do you think could be wrong there?

Az for my friends, YEAH! you could still hear tha motor running when he pushes it back to come from its popped out posistion. Could it be stuck some how, if so how would he go on taking off tha sunroof so that he could take a look around. I attemped to take tha sunroof off of mine  before but I couldn't find a place to do so. I remember my 87 supra had that same problem, only that that sunroof waz alot easier to take off. It ended up have'n all kinds of dirt stuck on tha little sliding things. But yeah, HOW DO YOU TAKE OFF THAT SUNROOF. Cause I'm thinkin' something could be stuck in hiz, As for mine uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I got no clue? Maybe a got a bad motor or somethin'...

When you close mine from the full open (inside) position it stops before it goes up.  You have to press the button after it stops to pop it out the top.  (This may mean NOTHING though, because mine is aftermarket.)

yup that's the way it's supposed to operate.  altho sometimes mine doesn't stop and just keeps going.  kind of a pain in the ass when it does that because you have to guess where to close it since it doesn't stop in the right place by itself.  i think there are some microswitches in the tracks somewhere that are gunked up or something.

That's how mine operates, and it's factory.  8)

Can we not use the improper english typing here? maybe make it a rule? It sure dosent have to be perfect, this is not what im saying. I'm referring to the "tha" and "cuz" and so on.

Its annoying, it takes longer to read and think about, and successful people dont speak or type this way.

Thank you

Totally agree with the English protocol. The sunroofs wre made by ASC American Sunroof Co and can be serviced at many places. There is a latching relay to control the pop-up position or the full open position and a few pressure switches to control it as well.
