OK guys, took the transmission to the shop this week...Said I need a reverse shaft rail guide, which supposedly GM doesnt make anymore.  It is a getrag 282.....  Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Register on v6z24.com [cavalier board]. I know a lot of manuals and a few are parting out their cars. I'm sure you could find it there.

I mentioned to John the last time we spoke that older j-bodies are a great source for 282 parts.  I would just try to find a j-body with a 282 and you can use it for parts.  You can actually use the whole tranny, but you need to use the w-body extension shaft.  Glad to hear you finally got it home...keep us updated.   :)

i have a Getrag 282 for parts.  it came from a '90 Grand Prix.  can you get a pic of what you need?

if i can get the "reverse shaft rail guide" out without special tools, and the part is in good shape, i will send it to you for the cost of shipping.

i've been meaning to take this thing apart anyways :)

EDIT: keep in mind it's iffy - the Getrag is blown.  here is a pic of the carnage:

Got the part from the guys at the shop, they found one for me.  Thanks a lot guys for all your help though.  I will let you know how its runnin once it gets back to me! :lol:
