I started on my pillar pod today. I have VDO boost and trans temp gauges. All I did so far was separate the "pod" parts from the universal 2 gauge pod I got at autozone. The way it was, the gauges were pointing too upwards. I glued them to the spare pillar, and when it's dry I'm gonna start with fiberglass.

Looks sweet...
Now if only I could get mine back from SmokinTGP who has had it since March..
what did you use to cut the pods off the general use pillar? Dremel tool or saw?
Lookin' GOOOd
I first used just wire cutters, then used some cutco shears. I used sanding bits to take some extra material off. Model glue holds them in place good and gives some time to get them lined up. So far I have loads of glue to keep them in place, then it's f-glass to fill in the spaces.
I think if you want a pod you're just gonna have to make one yourself. I remember eclipse used to make them but doesn't anymore. There were recently 2 people on clubgp who promised, but backed out.
BTW, I've never used fiberglass, anyone have tips of tricks for me?
get some rubber gloves
when your mixing the resin, don't mix it in a disposable plastic cup (beer cup type) cuz it'll burn through
Cut the fglass into small sections (strips ~3-4 inches wide) as its much easier to work with
don't get the resin on your skin, it kinda burns
there are 2 types of mat, the "random patern" stuff and the close woven stuff. The random stuff is much thicker and will be more sturdy but the woven is smoother and easier sanding/filling later. For this app, you can prolly get away with the woven stuff pretty well
Dollar General sells a set of brushes for $1.50 and I find them easier than cleaning it out with laquer thinner each time. The set has like 3 good brushes in it and some that are too small but still worth it.
Good luck! I've got a bit of experience now with fglass so drop me a PM now if ya need anythign else w/ it.
Should look good when you're done. Be sure to update with pics.
Here's what it looks like so far. As you can see there's a lot of sanding left before it goes on. I think it will look good when it's done.
