What is the difference between a 90 N/A GP's EGR valve and the Turbo version?
I'm pretty sure there isn't any.
My 90 TGP and 90 LE both had the same EGR.
my N/A SE is a digital EGR, but I think the LE models and the 2.8v6 cars have the same as the TGPs.

Hmmmm....that's odd. Both my AWD 3.1s have the same partially digital EGR. As for as I know, I thought all 2.8/3.1s from around '89 or so through '91 or so got those. They were transition years going from the vacuum ones, to the completely digital ones.
The turbo version appears to be different from all other 3.1s or something, Our '88 2.8 had a Vacuum EGR, the TGP has a Vacuum EGR, and the '90 INDY has a Digital EGR?
They are the same. The same year Lumina Euro is an exact setup as the TGP and STE...minus the Turbo that is. If your worrying about the intake pressure popping the egr off its seat...the vacume port side will also see boost so it will keep it closed...along with the exhaust pressure. The only thing you need to worry about is a stuck or leaking EGR. exhust will leak into the intake causing all kinds of havick. So...keep it clean and check for good seat pressure.
My '90 Lumina Euro had a digital EGR.
Sorry about the double post, but the board was acting funny.
so this:

is the one that everyone has in their TGP's or the other style?
Can you switch to the other style and would it make any difference (maintenance easier?)

Same here, as well as my AWDs.
I don't think there's any benefit with the version in that photo, and they're no easier to maintain (fail just as often). Plus they cost a hell of a lot more. You can get them cheaper elsewhere, but at GM, they're over $300 for the style in your photo.

With that being said, I don't see why you don't just plug the hole on the exhuast manifold and and just make it "appear" to be working, not that it really does anything anyways
I had a problem finding the right length tube for the EGR.
Not available from GM anymore...
I could have sworn the same year Euros had them. Oh well. Most 88 cars SHOULD have the old egr and tube. I know for sure the 88 berettas have the old EGR and tube.
You have to kinda shoe horn the tube in there. Thats what I did. I think the TGP has a shorter EGR tube.
procrastinating..oh well.
I went to the junk yard today and saw that indeed the 89 Grand prix with the 3.1 had a vacume egr. All the 2.8 had the same vacume. But all 90s had digital. I knew I saw the 3.1 with the old egr...I just thought it was the Euro.
off sub...but I saw a Diesel Potiac 6000. I didn't know they made those...how rare are those?

I thought out cars relied on the egr. Wouldnt you have to take the EGR out of the code for the car to run right without it?
