Title: I KNEW IT!!! Oh, ahem. No longer need a PM III
Post by: RareGMFan on August 04, 2004, 09:55:00 PM
Well, I while back, I mentioned that the front portion of my brake fluid reservoir was leaking from somewhere, and the guy that had done my front brakes a week earlier couldn't find any fluid at the wheels, so he said it had to be the mastercylinder itself.  I've been racking my brain trying to figure out what I was going to do.  Well, I was never quite satisfied with the MC answer, so I finally decided to start snooping around it a couple weeks ago, AND IT PAID OFF!!!  I discovered that there was fluid coming out right where the metal line closest to the front of the MC turned into a rubber line (I thought it was odd that they used a rubber line there, but I figured/found out it was just covering the steel).  I've never been so releaved to see leaking brake fluid.  I finally got the line fixed today (the GM only line has been discontinued, and the line changes widths underneath the rubber part, so it wasn't as easy as it could have been).  Man!  Not adding brake fluid a couple times a day is going to take some getting used to, but I'll make due.   :P

Well, just when I thought all was said and done, the guy that did my line ran into a bit of a problem.  When he went to bleed the front brakes at the MC, he couldn't.....because the bleeder was broken off!!!!  What the hell?  Can't anything go semi-smoothely on this car?  I'm going to have to take it back to him this Saturday to drill and tap it to install a new bleeder.  Man!

Hopefully, this issue will be done once and for all this Saturday, so I can get back to addressing runability issues.  The guy doing the brakes will also be giving it a thorough scan and inspection of everything, so I can address the immediate issues first.  Bottom line;  beats the hell out of a new/replacement PM III!
