TGP Gurus, cool site! gotta quick question, I am looking at a tgp on ebay and was looking for input. would you guys buy one without test driving it first for plans of making it your daily driver or would you not consider that. It would be my first car and the idea of having a turbo grand prix is awesome. It has pics of it, but that's about all that you can go by. let me know what all of you think, thanx, John
Hey, we ended up flying 1400 miles away to get ours, without test driving it obviously, the test drive was a 1400 mile drive home.. which is took with ease.....
Bought both of ours in Southern OH, and we are in mid MI. So the drive was about 250-300 miles for both. We only test drove the STE, because we bought the Coupe on ebay, but both drove home with no problems. However, they aren't cheap cars to maintain, so if you don't want to put any money into it, then this is NOT the car for you. I paid $1800 for my STE in December of last year, and I've put $2500+ into it since then. Of course only about $1000-1200 of it was necessary, the rest was mods. And, as most of these cars do, it has some serious brake issues that should be resolved, except for the small problem of me having negative amounts of money.

Well 2 of the 3 TGP's I have I bought after test driving them. One died between me paying, and going back to pick it up, (needed injectors) and the other died after 17 miles. (Guess what?!?!?!?! Injectors) So, it depends on the mileage, and service I guess, but in my personal experience w/ these cars, at least have a backup plan. But they're worth every penny I've put into them.
I flew from Olympia, WA to arkansaw to pick up my first 90 TSTE
