Title: Back up lights
Post by: SpeedDemon on November 13, 2004, 08:30:27 AM
My back up lights on my car don't work at all. does anyone know where the back up light switch is connected on the transmission. I've already checked the bulbs and there good I just have NO VOLTAGE  to them when the car is in reverse.

Did you check the fuses? It's on the same fuse as the trunk release, so that's an easy way to check.

The fuse is good, but the interesting thing is that my trunk release doesn't work either. So if they both don't work I have some wiring that I need to look at :bad-words: :drinking:    . I'll have to look into that.

The backup lights, and the trunk release all run through the PRND switch on the transmission. If all your wiring looks alright, that could be the culprit.

Just an update, finally got around to replacing the PRND switch.  I forgot what it was like to have reverse lights when you back up. And oh yeah the trunk release works now too. I took the old switch apart to see what went wrong with it and it was completely full of oil from the oil leak I  fixed earlier this year.
