Ok, everyone knows that the major things holding us back on putting in a larger turbo, is A) the T25 flange B) engine space C) Injectors D) Tuning. Well I don't have a solution for C&D, but I have an idea for A&B.
I've been seeing more and more rear mounted turb set-ups appearing on F-Body's and Corvettes. http://www.jlturbo.com/info.htm
With the turbo out of the engine bay, you would drastically reduce engine heat, and free up a lot of room. You could also do a 3x00 topend swap and exhaust manifold swap without having to worry about modifying the exhaust manifolds to work with the cross-x pipe.
With the turbo under the car, you don't have to worry about heat soak since the filter would be getting cold air.

And talk about a sleeper set-up. If anyone asks you to pop the hood, you can show them your "cold air" intake.

I'm sure the Toyota Tacoma/Tundra kit could be adapted.
The setup will reduce heat in the engine bay but what about the heat under the car. I'm pretty sure that putting a turbo that close to the fuel tank isn't a good Idea either. Anyone notice how the heat from the turbo effected the drivers side of his axle? Also, if Iyou look closley at that picture notice the BOV and wonder what additional injection (possible alky) he is running into the intake porting after the MAF sensor?
i heard these kits are highly inefficient becuase the exhuast gas has lost so much of its engergy througth heat dissapation....leading to slow spool up and low boost.....
anyway thats just what i read and it sounds like a legitimate point....just cant say to what degree this hinders perfomance becuase i guess you never know untill you try....
i do agree though that it would be really trick to have a setup like that...very creative to say the least....
