Im looking to get one of those K&N Mini Vents for the Front Falve Cover.... :)
i have the stock Rubber Grommet in it and was wondering if anyone knew roughly what size the Vent tube would need to be to fit snug in the Rubber???
K&N has a few sizes
10mm or 0.375 inch
13mm or 0.5 inch
16mm or 0.625 inch
19mm or 0.875 inch
any thoughts??
As per reading up on this in the past, its strongly suggested you run the hose back into the intake instead of just using a filter on the valve cover...
But if your going to go with the breather, I'm guessing a 13mm would be the size
Well i only have a K&N on the turbo and no place to run a line.....thus why i was going to run a small filter...
what are the reasons for keeping the hose to the intake??
What K&N is it? If its one that came with the JeffM chip, then there should be a hole at the end of the filter where a tube can be plugged in...
here is what I did http://home.earthlink.net/~z284pwr/grand_prix/October%2014,%202004/P1010007_small.JPG
It just helps keep the proper ventalation and removal of the pressure in the crankcase/valvetrain system, which just the filter can't do.
Fair Enough!!!!

never thought of that.....the K&N i have is a X-Stream and it has a port in the front that you can hook a hose into......
i think you have changed my mind on my little Filter thought..... :D
Well, thats good, its really easy to do, if you want I can get you some closer pictures of what I did, its just 2 hose ends from the stock tube, and that clear tubing the correct length between them, looks much nicer, and since we broke the one that came with the JeffM Chip, we went this way, which I think isn't nearly as ghetto setup either.
i think thats what im going to do to mine also...
thanks for the input :D

*Ignore the unpluged wastegate and the surface rust around BOV, its winter time, to cold to work on car*
What is the PN# on that filter?? I hadn't read anything about that, although it makes good sense. I can't remember off hand the number of my filter, I think it's the RU-1390, but it doesn't have that hole in the end.
that is the same filter that is on my car......and i didnt have a hole in the end but it doesnt look like he did either it looks like he cut a hole about the size of his hose.....that would have been a good idea but i left mine open......always worked fine for me
 sayyyyyyyyyyyyyy you dont think that is why my tranni went do ya?....... ................................naaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
That is the filter that came with the TopGun 160 complete kit I got and the hole was already there for the tube for the valvecover whatever you want to call it.
When I got my chips, there was no "kit" available that I know of. All I could get was the t-stat as far as I knew. But the "instructions" that came with both chips gave the part number for the K&N filter, neither of which had any hole on the end...
