Title: Overseas TGP found!
Post by: mfewtrail on January 13, 2005, 07:56:18 PM
Thought this was pretty cool. http://web.comhem.se/~u70810348/john/extra02/extra_arnesy.html

I believe the car is in Sweden or Norway(both are mentioned elsewhere on the site).  I emailed the guy that maintains the site.  I gave him a little TGP info and a link to the board also. 8)

Here's a translation of the page(posted on a volvo forum and someone there translated for me, it's Norwegian)

"Arne Sylthe
Brother in law...... or what ever it's called?

He was married to my mothers sister Kirsti.

Cars : Chevrolet Biscayne, Opel Ascona, Ford Cortina, Austin Maxi and more...He also had a tTrans Am i think, is this correct?

Here he is with a special car: PIC

Mclaren Pontiac Grand Prix -1990
only 25 where made"

Another quote from the previous page.

"other peoples cars ond motorcycles.
family and friends.........

Here you can find old and new - lots of theese objects is no longer in theese peoples possesion.
Do YOU have pics that should be on this site? E-mail me or call and I'll fix it."

Nice find Mfew!!  I have sold pipes, chips and parts to 3 TGP owners in Europe but this sounds like a different owner than the ones I dealt with.  Nice to see they still have our composite headlights as I remember seeing a pic once showing their GPs of those years had.....normal square headlights    Funny looking and I had a pic once, still might have it on a spare hard drive.  Maybe only 25 were export to his claim of 25 made.  There chip is way different than ours, a real mess to compare to the emission ones we have  :?    Let us know what else you find! 8)

Well.....all the TGPs and TSTEs and 1988 up GPs have composite headlights till the change to the little mini-quads later on the GPs 2-doors, STEs kept the composites till all was changed in 1997.  I am guessing some on this so there may be some changes to that but you get the picture 8)   The "Normal Square one" are....well from the pic I saw a few years ago of an oversears GP 2-door was it had stock, 4 headlights (high and low beams), that looked to be 4 inches tall by 6 inches wide each, and what was your typical square headlights on older cars (50's, 60's, 70's etc)......alright you made me do some looking, hope this helps, check at the bottom of the page for this Square Headlights GP from overseas:

Wow, the European headlights are just a tad ugly.   Jeff, the TGP w/ black wheels on that page is mine(says needs owners name above it).  It's also just an edited picture(I just turned the brightness way down on the centers of the wheels).  I do plan to buy a spare set of crosslaces and have them professionally painted or poowdercoated black soon though.

Ahhhhh, GOOD the owner, I will give credit/add your name, long as I have your permission???  Yea that's a different looking GP, Euro Department of Transportation (whatever they are called) must not have approved of the composites but as I recall Euro headlights all have that slight lift to the right with their headlight beam, to light up the side of the road/road signs better.  This is NOT approved in the USA but seems to have snuck in as most Euro cars with HID projects do this (my wife's car does this bad, really pisses off the people in the right lane you are passing as it blazes in their side view/rear view mirrors).

Proof we all have different taste  8)   It does look unique, little more aggressive or more of a statement, close looking to an LE though not sure if that is an LE or SE, if an SE then I wonder if there are fogs lower to give that missing feature back?

They put those on Berettas in Europe too. I always thought they looked odd on a Beretta, but that euro GP looks alright. :)

Cool, then "Matt F" it be (soon as I have Jim message the pic  :) ).  I can add a link to your web site from there, though I have found over the years, having web links ends with "link not good" when owners sell or change severs or whatever, once a year or more often I have to check the links I have to see if they still work, should check more often but never know when one will go away and be dead.  I think the size of that pics works for now, its sort of a web page I put together fast, so someday will have to organize the pics and sizing better, but for now its got some good stuff to look at.  Some where I have a shot from my (houes's) roof of 2 or 3 or more TGPs and a hottie standing in the middle, the web site needs to have some hot babes to go with the hot cars

Here's another photo of those sealed beam headlights.

If I'm not mistaken, those are fairly popular with American Beretta onwers, while the overseas owners want the composite lights.  At least that's what I thought a friend of mine who is heavily into Berettas said.  Grass is always greener on the other side, I guess.

Wow, cool another pic, mind if I borrow it for future use???  That guy I mentioned that was selling those GM headlights for so cheap ($30 complete!!!) also had 6000STE headlights if you are interested, and they were priced cheap too, and these are real GM new units, at least the ones I got!

So right, everyone wants to be different, even if its not   at least it would be here.  The parts book I have for my Tyhpoon shows headlight adjustment motors/controls for this truck export only (though you can order them if your dealer is good to you 8) ).  Looks like for the GP though you need a different front bumper skin, and from looking at the lower grills, it would look even more different than a USA version     But that is a lot of work and I just like the looks of a black TGP with GTS headlight covers 8)

Those look butt ugly. The only euro lights I would like on the beretta are the BMW angle eyes. Some beretta owners did this conversion. I want demon lights on the 750 hehe.

on the TGP..I like it as is.

The plates are from Norway.
And the square headlights.....may be British....they drive on the wrong side of the road...
