Only "emblems" I found were the "bumper" emblems = likely the Pontiac Arrowheads.   I did see that they list the turbo and intercooler, but I wonder if they actually have any of our intercoolers and other parts on hand.

Yea, that is indeed the TGP valence and bumper cover. The illustrations show it to be a bit more square, but I think that's how they were intended to look.
Though their prices aren't that discounted. They still want $1100 for a hood, and GM's list price is $1400.
Thanks for the link.. I think I may consider them when I have the car redone here soon. A new bumper cover and valence may be in order, this way the car actually looks proper again.  :D

what happend to ur valence? according to ur pics, u have one, but when u buy a valence, dont u need the brakets also, and supports?
Title: http://www.buy-oem-parts.com ?????
Post by: LukeZ34 on January 16, 2005, 01:31:44 PM
Oh it's there, but it's cracking in the center, and it sagging pretty badly. The bumper is warped along the bottom where the valence mounts (pushing the valence down) and also under the headlights (warping upwards).
Yea, they also have the brackets for the valence, so I'd have to get those too.

hey, they also have the louvers for the hood, and the crosslaces, i think even the HUD, u go to windsheild, and glass, then it says w/o HUD 171$ w/HUD 400$ so mabye it comes with it??
Title: http://www.buy-oem-parts.com ?????
Post by: no1kicker on January 16, 2005, 03:05:52 PM
No, the windwhield wouldn't come with the HUD.  The windshield glass has a different part # for a car w/ HUD and w/o.  The more reflective ones were assigned the HUD ones and a few hundred $$ more.  I don't think it matters much though, I put a HUD in my car with the regular windshield and it works fine.  A little dim in sunlight though.  But I drove some new GP's and Bonne's this summer with the factory HUD, and theirs did the same.

I found the following.

-Accumulator - $124
-ABS pressure switch - $67.06

What's GMpartsdirect list the Accumulator for at the moment?

Also, found a TGP shortblock on that site...it listed for nearly $1700.

is that good or bad? for $1700, whats it mean shortblock? like the whole motor?

acumulator is 289$ where are u seeing 124$

EDIT: STRANG! in collision parts, Accumulator is 289$< but in mechanical catalog, its 124$ crazy!

also xover pipe for 3.1,  280$< but not for turbo......whats the difference?

PMIII Resivore 50$

Go to the "mechanical parts" catalog(the one where you enter year/model on the right side column instead of left on the first page), then go to Brakes, followed by ABS/Anti-lock, then Accumulator...it's $124.11.

Their shortblock includes "Block, Conn Rod, Pistons, Camshaft Bearings, Crankshaft & Bearings."

You can likely rebuild your entire motor w/ $1700 + do a few extra things to it vs. buying their shortblock..

As I remember, they list all the parts, but when they don't have it you have to deal with getting your money back.

Yeah I bought a whole rebuild kit, all the gaskets, upgraded to a 2020 cam, honing and had the cylinder heads totally redone for less than $1300.  But I assembled it and if someone else did it, say at the machine shop, they'd charge the remainder I am sure.

hay, if u get the valence for the actual TGP's, (wich i think look ALOT better, nice and square, instead of goofy and round) all the mounting stuff that was broken, i just unbolt that, and put the new ones on, and is there a way we can reinforce it, so it wont be so prone to breaking again?

Or do it yourself.. It is NOT a hard job.. Jess and I did the headliner in her TGP, took about an hour to do.
Go to http://www.autoheadliner.com and purchase their standard $50 headliner kit. It comes with a huge roll of the headliner, and a can of some damn good glue.
Remove the headliner board from the car, being careful not to destroy it.
Remove the fabric
Remove the old headliner foam with a steel bristle brush (having a shop vac helps)
Put the new headliner on 1 half at a time, spraying glue on the board, and the foam backing of the new headliner fabric.
Wait about a few hours before you install it back in to the car.

It was amazingly easy, and neither of us have done one before. Right now we are in the process of recovering her visors with the same headliner fabric.

ok, gave him my VIN, im waiting for a reply, im asking him if the TGP badges are in stock, if they came as only 1 or as all 3, and if they have black and/or red, im hoping for good luck, i f----d up 2 of 3 of my badges, one chipped, the other i tried to let sit in aluminum cleaner, most of the part that was in the cleaner, the red paint on its gone, but the gold it really clean, 1 other is alright, but i cant clean it, iv tried everything to soap and water, steel wool, Lemon Juice and salt, lime away, and the aluminum cleaner, i used them all on the chipped badge as a dummy, so im down to trying to buy them

THANKS very much for going through this hassle!!!  I was very interested in some new black TGP emblems!!  I have a few sets of new red ones, paid full price from the deal back a few years ago before there were better buying options, but got the best ones since I ordered all of the inventory then picked from them for the best ones, too many (I sent back) had black junk in the red glass part

Thanks again Prospeeder!!!

I have total 6 new Red TGP Emblems.  When I first got them I cleaned them and wiped off the finger oils (finger oil is acidic and will eat the gold coating) and packaged them with soft foam and stored them in a baggie with silica jell to take out moisture.  So they are not only the best GM had in stock back when they had these, they have been obsessively cared for since.  Retail was $85 each, I won't mark them up/make any money since that is a lot of money to me as well.

Yep each, if this site actually had the emblems, that is at least what they would charge, it was a while ago when I bought them and price for parts go up every year  .  So maybe a treat for your car, or swap me a good used crossover if you can find a spare 8)  I do have 25 new GM front air damn/splitter/lower valance, one is already boxed up heavy duty.  Email me if you want to talk about setting any of this up.

True, but that's also gmpartsdirect.com's pricing, which didn't exist back then, and is significantly below today's regular dealer price.  So the dealer price back then was probably fairly close to what that website is charging today.  It would cost around $20-30 for one from the junkyard, and that's 15+ years old, meaning even if it was intact, it would still have numerous paint chips, cracking, missing paint, etc.  I would think $50 - $60 is a bit low.

On the other hand, I am kinda' shocked by the TGP badging prices.  The ones for my STE AWDs (which are made virtually the same way) were $25 brand new from the dealer before they were discountinued a few years ago.    I just picked up a new model Suburban badge for a buddy for $14 (which is wholesale, retail was $20)

GM list is around $190.....
Title: http://www.buy-oem-parts.com ?????
Post by: Jeff M on April 10, 2005, 11:49:53 AM
GM list is correct at $195 plus your local sales tax (estimate of 6%) yields $206.70 total at local dealer.  GMpartsdirect adds $23.04 S&H to their $115 price making theirs $138.04 total.  Part of the challenge for me right now with parts is the big sized ones, GMpartsdirect sells a lot and also as a dealer has a better line on cheap shipping so, large parts are hard to compete with for now, smaller ones not such an issue.  When I bought mine they listed for $179 (down from $195 retail today) which was only 2 years ago, and with GMpartsdirect still able to get these, their price is pretty good on these for now.  I invested in a ton on TGP parts so when they are priced beyond what I paid for them I would have something better to offer, and after the parts are discontinued, even a better offering as well still having them.  They come primed and ready to paint black or red.

Well, there are many differences in pricing of similar parts from different cars, even with the same part on the TGP the 4th clutch drum at a price to me of $80 back a few years ago went up to $300 now, quite a few like this now and not just on TGPs or GM cars.  I remember back in 1991 when I bought just one Black TGP Emblem is was $65, wish I had bought more back then even at that price just to have them, even at $85 I know I would at least pay it to have this one key item new (especially on a TGP with a good paint job or new) and especially since most all have little gold left and those removed have nasty chunks of 2-sided foam left and broken glass after removal.

The other names I gave the Lower Valance were other common names used for the same item.  The black thing is the Radiator Deflector and is a key item that is needed.  Another part is the Radiator Lower Baffle that keeps the air captured in the front cavity so it has to go through the condenser and radiator coils.

I think that about covers all the questions  Thanks for waiting!

Question about the TGP Fan MOTORS....

Ballcamp manufacturs the replacement NEW motors for the 89-90 NA Grans Prix... For both single and dual cooling units. Now according to the Ballcamp part numbers;  the main motor used on the dual system is also the SAME motor used as the TGP's primary cooling fan motor.

How can that be? The TGP primary cooling fan motor uses completely different housing than the N/A 3.1?

Jeff M. any insight into this???

Also, does anyone know how to remove the front mounted intercooler fan without having to remove the entire front end of the TGP?

My intercooler fan blade is broken and needs to be replaced. Anyone know of a place to get one. (PS this is the fan blade only, not the motor)[/b]
