OK I have finally decided to sell my Turbo Grand Prix so here it goes:
The car is a 1990 model, black exterior with tan leather interior and I am asking $1600 for it although the price is negotiable. It has all the usual TGP options but does not have the sunroof or CD player (just the stock tape deck). It has a little less than 99800 original miles and I bought it with 90987 miles so I've put only about 10000 miles on it in the last 2 years. I have a copy of the clean carfax report from when I bought the car so let me know and I will send that to you.

Exterior Condition:
Car is really in need of a paint job. if you look at the pictures it will be pretty obvious. Paint is peeling on trunk and is faded on the front bumper. Hood has some paint missing along one of the creases. Body has no rust (the only rust is in the battery tray). There is light hail damage on the hood, roof and trunk about dime size. The pictures will give you some idea of this but it is best seen in person. Front valance is still attached but is not in the greatest condition. Missing emblem on the passenger side. Never been in an accident to my knowledge and the body is in good shape except for the hail damage.
Interior Condition:
The overall interior condition is pretty good. The rear seats are in great shape although the rear drivers side seat has some discoloration on the bottom in one spot. The front seats are in pretty good shape the passenger side is better than the drivers side which has some cracking and small rips. Carpet is somewhat discolored on driver side. I installed a new headliner. Door panels are in pretty good shape but carpet on driver side is warped in places. Rear deck carpet has typical worn spots. Basic power seat functions work correctly but lumbar support controls can be intermittent.
Accessories:
Radio and steering controls work. HUD works but the brightness control tends to go from off to full bright with nothing in between. Drivers info display works correctly but the plastic screen is cracked. Wipers, headlights work fine. The dash has all the typical problems: check gauges light is always on, the Tac reads about 1 to 2 grand higher than it should, the oil pressure gauge maxes out beyond idle and the low fuel light is always on. AC is not working and for some reason I have never been able to get the HVAC controls to blow hot air. I suspect a vacuum leak or disconnected line to the controls may be the cause.
Running Condition:
Engine and transmission have always run well, I have never had any problems with them. The brake system is another story. Not too long after I bought the car the rear proportioning valve started leaking, I replaced this but ever since then the brake pedal has sat too low so that the brake lights are always on. I have taken it to a dealer (which was a mistake) and they were no help. I had a new brake stop lamp switch installed but still no change so I dont know if the pedal just needs to be adjusted or what but I drove the car for a long time this way (you just have to make sure to pull the brake fuse when leaving so that the battery doesnt run down!). Obviously this needs to be fixed. The previous owner had the PMIII rebuilt at Prior Remanufacturing and there are no Brake or ANTI-LOCK lights on. The pump cycles about every three times you push the pedal so I think the accumulator probably could use replacing. I havent driven the car too much of late and the low coolant light has started to come on. I tried adding some coolant but I think air got in the line because it didnt do the trick. I think simply draining and refilling the radiator and getting the air out of the system is all that is needed. Even with this the car does not overheat and the both cooling fans do work. I suspect the car still has the original crossover pipe although if it is leaking it is not obvious.
Here are the things that I have done to the car since I purchased it in October of 2002:
- K&N cone filter on Turbo
- Transmission flush and trans filter replacement, 2/03
- New rear brake proportioning valve
- Tune-up: installed new spark plugs, wires and fuel filter 3/03
- Replaced front brake pads (carbon metallic) and resurfaced rotors, 10/03
- New battery, 9/04
- Replaced brake light switch, 9/04
Here is what the previous owner had told me he had done when I bought it from him:
"Hello Scott
I drive this car every day , no other problems. Engine runs great,
transmission shifts great changes as normal. I have not had any problems
with either nor do I expect any.
The turbo is in great condition, I have not had any work done to it, never
been rebuilt. Transmission has never been rebuilt. The only part that has is
the ABS System. I sent that to Prior Remanufacturing in TX. this past June.
It cost about $480.00 plus shipping. 3 year warranty on that. I also put a
new coil, steering pump, NEW Tires two mos ago that cost me $490.00. OH, I
forgot also a new oxygen sensor ."
I live in the southwestern corner of Fort Worth Texas. I never registered the car in Texas (it still has Virginia plates) so the next owner would need to do that. I have the original TGP owners manual supplement (not owners manual itself though), TGP cassette tape and a Chiltons W-body repair manual. I am asking $1600 but am willing to negotiate. Please give me a call at 817-732-9305 (home) or 817-690-0866 (cell) or email me a sciszek@yahoo.com if you have more questions or would like to come out and take a look at the car. Looking forward to hearing from anyone interested. Thanks, Scott.
