Title: what are your spring plans / mods
Post by: no1kicker on March 20, 2005, 03:56:53 PM
The board has been pretty dead the last few days.  1st day of spring is here, figured I'd ask what everyone is planning now that the weather is getting a bit nicer.

Here's what my plans are:
bov - almost done.  Need to paint the lower IC pipe and put it on.
pillar pod - almost there, needs some more sanding.  Not hard to make, but time consuming.
rockers - when I get some time to do it right.
polished valve covers - when the rockers go in.
polished plenum - in 2 weeks.
flush mount spoiler - not sure if I will put it on or not, not painted yet.
IC sprayer - if I can make a cheap one.
RKE - need to swap the resoldered unit in.
cluster - check gauges light is on, resolder when the pillar pod goes in.

If I can find a cheap T28, maybe that also.  But very unlikely.

For the STE:

GMPP Trailing Arms
GM Front Strut Tower Brace w/ZZP Brackets
Install HUD
Pillar Pod
1.6 Rockers...maybe

For the Euro:

Remove the Cat
FFP UD Pulley
STB w/ZZP Brackets
Boost Gauge

Other than that I think thats about it.  If I had any money I would try for the GT28RS or GT2871R, but I spent my tax money I was gonna use for the Turbo on the Lumina, so I don't see that happening.  Might not be keeping the STE anyways.  (prolly will sell both cars and get a '97+ GTP)

By the end of spring, I'll probably have done the following:

-replace the ABS accumulator
-add "dual dual" outlet round exhaust tips(rolled edges and probably "slash cut")
-GMPP rear trailing arms
-BOV(likely just a junkyard DSM one)
-Take lots of nice pictures of the TGP. 8)

I have quite a few other things I want to do before the end of the year though.

Cool.  Let's see some pics when these mods are complete!  I'm always looking for ideas like most people.  Sounds like some good mods.

90TGP, If I decide not to put that spoiler on, I'll let you know.  I'm still not sure about it, as well as some other things I was planning.

I just put on new KYB GR-2 Struts and GMPP trailing arms.  I have some 28 lb. injectors to put on when I put on the new vacuum line kit.  I also just finished up removing all the A/C components.  I'm already 1/2 done with my spring mods, but I'll have more to do once summer gets here.  I'm going to be working on getting the inside of my TGP as nice as the outside.   8)

How long did it take to install the trailing arms?  And how difficult was it to remove the AC?

I would recommened taking the trailing arms to a mechanic that has power tools. Those 15yo rusted bolts are going to be a bitch.

I actually just did mine with a breaker bar for the bigger rear bolt, and a couple wrenches for the smaller front bolts.  I can tell my TGP was garaged most of it's life and it's really pretty clean underneath so I figured it wouldn't be too rusty.  The bolts came right out and were in decent shape so I reused them.

The A/C delete was actually harder than I expected.  After removing all of the A/C components I realized that the coolant line for the oil cooler was in the way of the A/C delete pulley that I got from GM.  Also, with the new belt routing, the wiring was really close to the belt.  So, I cut the A/C compressor/dogbone bracket to remove where the A/C compressor would bolt on, but I retained all 4 bolt holes(plus the alignment hole).  I  then bent the coolant line so that it was out of the way of the belt and moved the wire loom as well.

Hey hey hey, now.  Get in line!  lol.  I asked him about that spoiler like a year ago (ever since he posted photos of it).  That, and those wheels, though I scored 2 sets of 5-stars for dirt cheap, so your wheels are safe.....for now.

Skalor:  Can you still order entire vacuum line kits?  When I went to get those from my Pontiac guy that gets me everything at wholesale, he said they weren't avialable anymore.    And are you reprogramming the chip to run those 28# injectors?
