my Vacuum lines are so brittle i have manged to bust all of them except the big one to the EGR valve.....

any thoughts on where to get new ones???

i have a GM parts book and it looks like there listed and sold as one piece, meaning all the lines in one "kit"

I've honestly never seen a set of the hard lines that was damaged or cracked like that.. I'd go to a junkyard and grab a few.

Then again, the turbo has 4 lines, the N/A has 3...

For what it's worth, I remember someone on the W' board paying around $20-30 for the NA set, so I suppose our "kit" would run about the same price.  I'll probably end up just replacing mine with black silicone vacuum line when the time comes(that's what I did with my NA 1993 and the lines are still like-new after almost three years).

I paid about $15-$20 wholesale for the AWDs' lines.  Are they still available for the TGPs?  I thought my parts guy said he couldn't get them anymore when I tried to buy them last summer.

It can be a tough time for any dealer to find the parts and the part numbers for any unique car/TGP/TSTE too, found this out when I spent 3 months going over all the key parts and specific key parts for our cars to make up my inventory. So to save the hassle  8) part number 10114903 is our TB Vacuum Line Assembly Complete, and is still available from the dealer or where ever, and when they are gone, I got 25 in reserve  People won't thank me yet for having all these but some day :)

Also I have found repeatedly no need yet/in 3 years though some day!!...that the new lines fit so damn snug you don't need a clip to hold them in 8)   A trick is to use some radiator fluid to lube them so they seat fully, just don't boost until the heatsoak dries up the radiator fluid which it will at which time, you will be fit to go with the boost!  Someday, 4 to 5 years or more the lines might shrink enough to need the plastic clip or whatever means you have come up with to keep them from popping off.  And to let you know, the company that made these clips threw away the mold before I got a hold of them   so any found in a junk yard can go for good change on eBay!!!

Does anyone have a picture of this clip?  I'd like to try to fabricate something that would work.  Right now I just have some tie straps holding them in and it looks horrible.

"Looks" even better on your car    Yes that is the correct one!  If no one has it you are welcome to one!

Showoff, I only have one car with the clip, people seem to more so loose these than break(?) them, either way good to have them, better to find more and sell them 8)

Looks like CuttySupreme will like having his HVAC and Cruise back when he gets his vacuum assembly 8)

Ordered the Vacuum Line Kit Today!!!!!

even had one in Ontario, will be here tomorow.... :D

they had everythig on my shopping list except when i checked the avaliability of a new EGR tube Assembily.......

its been discontinued!!!

Jeff i asked you about this before and you said you had some or could get some?

the EGR is disabled, unless I somehow hit 151*C, so i still think i need a uncracked tube!!

anyway Jeff lemme know on that one

Yes, that is another one of those items I bought quite a few to have after they were discontinued!  And our agreement still stands on doing these parts  :?  Even if you have EGR disabled, that is still going to be an exhaust leak, like when the OEM crossovers leak, that will either suck air like a crossover pipe crack when you are idling/cruising, or blow when under boost, which if in the right/wrong place, can melt things from the hot exhaust coming out.  Had an owner who melted the vacuum line going to his FPR and MAP, so we need to hook you up.

What happened to your name, it use to be Davis now is David and Invasion1....you guys looking to invade or something

Thanks for the update 8) !  Nice scores too :D !!  Was more a gold mine then a salvage yard    Just don't bend that EGR Tube any more than you have to!!!...attach it carefully when putting it into the car, checking the alignment of the tube to the EGR Bung on the crossover pipe before securing to the EGR Housing.

How did it go getting the tight-ass vacuum line end into the top of the TB??  Learn any tricks other than mine?..always open to more ideas!!!

All sounds good, continued good luck!!

a gold mine indeed, they had to kick me out at 5:00 pm cause they were closing......

the Vac lines when into the TB fairly easy, i used your method actually, with a bit of coolant.

and my clip holds them in really well

that EGR tube almost looks and feels new.......very strong and durable, don't get me wrong im treating with TLC when i go to install it (need to get a gasket still)

i almost have the engine fully assembiled now and its going in the car friday or saturday if i can find some helpers.

can't wait to spin some 245's  :D

Something to throw in quick on the subject of the TB and vac lines...

I found a 2.8 base model GP in the yard today. The TB had four lines running from it, just like the turbo :?: the fourth line went to the EGR, I didn't check to see where the other three went specifically. Didn't they have MAF sensors in '88? I don't know anything about them but is it something that would require an extra vacuum line?

  Boy you learning something every day!!!  Never looked at an oldie to know that, never heard anyone state it either, until now 8)   There is one line that runs to the FPR and the same onto the MAP, the other that goes under the upper intake goes to the back where it attaches to the line that feeds via a Check Valve to stop boost pressure; the Cruise and Vacuum Reservoir ball and a "T" that branches off and goes through the firewall to the HAVC System.  the other 2 are for the EGR and Canister Purge.  That is all I know, but thanks to you an interesting tid-bit is added!!

ya i saw a 1988/89 GP at the wreckers and the Vacuum lines had 4 just like the TGP's

they were broke but you could still see the ends in the TB.

ya Jeff im getting close..............just spent a all nighter installing the Engine in the CS.....bored and couldn't sleep

its sitting in the engine bay now and when i get some sleep i gotta start hooking all the odds and ends.......

:)
