The correct thread size is 12 x 1.75. I made my own bushing for inside the pulley that fits the bolt pretty good. Keeps it straight.

I know this didn't give me any H.P. but it sure made a difference in the way it runs. It seems alot easier to keep the RPM's up between shifts.

The TGP engine will be getting pulled this week or next and getting rebuilt so that will boost my H.P.

Sweet, you rebuilding the motor yourself or having it done somewhere? Post some pics up when you get the Cutlass turbo'd.

Hey turby, could you make a write-up on the idler pully install? I'd like to do that to my car.  8)

I'm having the block done at a shop. I'm going to do a little work on the heads, intakes and exhaust manifolds myself then assemble it myself.

I didn't use the proper bolt for it. As soon as I find a part # for the right one I'll do a write-up.

a non AC idler pulley comes with the bolt from the dealership.  i just bought one about a month ago (and deleted ALL underhood AC components).  the idler pulley simply bolts to the timing cover.

How much did they rape you for the pulley?

Advance wants $16 for a Dayco pulley.

the non AC idler pulley cost me $20.31 + tax from the local GM dealer.  tell them you need an idler pulley for an '88 Corsica with the 2.8 V6 and no AC.  i use Napa serpentine belt part # 060615 and it fits perfect.

The dayco pulley is slightly different. The center hole is bigger than the bolt needed. I made a bronze bushing that fit the bolt and pulley perfect.

Did you cut your a/c bracket any? In your last pic it doesn't look like it. Watch that wire loom. It's VERY close to the belt now.

I cut my A/C bracket when I took my A/C off.  I basically cut the whole left side of the bracket off, but left the part that bolts to the block.  Before cutting the bracket the wire loom was too close to the belt and made me nervous to run it like that.   :P

Also, I looked it up on GM Parts direct and it's about $24 shipped. Wouldn't be any cheaper than a dealer.

No problem. Hate to see someone get stranded over something like that.

The night I did mine it was too late to pull it back off to cut it so I drove home that way planning to cut it the following day. Got about 1/4 mile from home and the car quit. I'm thinking F*CK, the wires just got cut. It completely slipped my mind that it could be something else cause a couple weeks ago it quit on me while idling. Turns out my IM went out. 1st thing in the morning I pulled the bracket and cut it.

There is a spot on the side where the loom bracket bolts to. I cut up to that so I could re-use it. Bent the bracket back behind where I cut. Now there is about 2" between the wire loom and the belt.
