Title: I need a 5 speed chip!
Post by: dbtk2 on May 02, 2005, 09:59:36 PM
I know there are a few people running around on here with 5 speeds and custom chips.  I would like to get a 5 speed chip for my STE since I am going to be swapping in a 284.  Let me know if you are able to make a chip for me PLEASE!  I will probably drive it with the regular chip for a little while, but I'm sure I won't want to for long.

Yes, but that isn't gonna be cheap, and I wouldn't trust a chip they made me as much as one that I know works in a car just like mine.  I'm just looking for someone that already has the 5 speed code to either send the code to me, or me to send my extra memcal to them to get it programmed.  If you have the ability to make me a chip let me know on here or PM me or something and we can work something out.  Keep in mind I'm not necessarily looking for a freebie either.

They charge $40 for a chip and then $35 an hour for road testing/dyno tuning, which they would mostlikely have to do to get it right, and I doubt they can get that right in an hour.  It would be easier and cheaper for me to just get someone elses program that already has been proven in their car.

why would they need to road test anything if all you are doing is dropping the automatic?  most of his chips don't need any adjustment -

only reason mine isn't perfect is that mine is the TGP ecm running a 3.4dohc which he hasn't had to tune before -

doesn't hurt to toss em an email and see what they say
