Post by: Prospeeder on July 24, 2005, 12:34:55 PM
I have been having some elctrical issues, a dude on TGP forum here said somthing about a boot on the b+ termial of the altenator, or somthing like that, but im having problems, like if u press the brake, the interior lights and dash lights dim, or if the fans come on or u plug somthing into the cig lighter, the lights said dim, and the Antilock light is on, even tho i dont have a PM3 problem, so what is this? i found it under my car, its some kind of boot

I *think* that is the AC condenser drain boot.  I don't have my car here to verify that.  There is a tube that comes thru the firewall on the passenger side about 16 inches or so down from the top.  That boot slides over the tube.  I think it's there to minimize debris from getting in and to keep the water from just running down your firewall.

Condensation Drain for the Climate Control  8)

when your A/C (if it works....) produced water on the Evap Core it drains from that.

If you have the motor rotated forward, you will find the hole where the ac drain tube sits about halfway down the firewall behind the alternator(it's in that general area).

I'm not sure how things look behind the drain elbow, but I imagine water might be able to back up into the interior of the car without the elbow attached there.

It is the final piece of the drain system.
If that is missing, the condensate from the AC will end up in the
padding in the carpet rather than on the ground ...
