Title: TGP Motor
Post by: 5speedGTP on August 16, 2005, 08:10:14 AM
Hey guys,

I have a TGP longblock sitting on a shipping pallet-the kicker is it has no miles on it.  It was a dyno engine from GM-the guy I got it from had a contact at GM.  I can get pics if anybody is interested.  I am open to offers on this unit.  I am getting rid of my TGPs and was thinking about putting this in my Fiero-but have not decided for sure.  I will consider serious offers.  Thanks in advance.

Greg

Regardless of what the Grus's say.   You block is exactly the same as an N/A motor vin T with  2 exceptions. One the reluctor ring has a .090 different spacing for the initial trigger and the heads have about 2 cc more than an N/A Other than that your CR is 8.6 and the N/A is 8.9 or somewhere around three. If you want to get into CC's on the heads I can accommodate you. The only thing you have is a vin "V" as the serial number with .2 or .3 lower compression. I say 2 exceptions. The rods have a different P/N but I have found rods in the J/Y with the same casting numbers and same physical appearance and measurements that are identical  in "T" motors, but you will pay about $25 more for them.

Your block does not have extra nickel in it and your crank may be nitrated, if so both N/A and the turbo are nitrated. I have an N/A crank in my  car and its held up better than the vin "V". I've got 70 runs in the low 14's and high 13's and it's held up just fine, and I punch it at every stop sign.

What is the casting number on the heads. I think 511 are the last 3 digits. Of course the vin ?V as the serial number and then you have a TGP motor.

Good luck in selling it. But like I said it ain?t that special. The UIM is probably worth more. :)

Jud.

Not sure how I was schooled.  I am not trying to get $5000 for this.  IF you aren't interested than don't worry about it.  Sorry for trying to offer up something.  Take care.

Don't be sorry Greg. :(  Just wanted to let the members and you here know what's up. there has been to much hipe on how much better the vin "V" is when it 's not, it's just a plain old vin "T' with different heads. And I wouldn't want you to get your hopes up. It's all BS.

Did you check your head casting #'s? And what is the serial # that will also tell people what year it is.

Oh and I think they did put a high volumn oil pump to try and kep it together. :(

Board
If your that board than drive down here an we will go 14 rounds at the (20 min away  1/8 ) drag strip.    Got my first under .2 60' and first under 9* at this strip and, DAMMIT my brother did it. Thank god I was able to back it up or I would have been really embarrassed.
Had a FRRIGING ball.  :D Absoulty great place to go racing. Its only about 7 mo old but the most frindly track I've been to.

You could also go tune or something. Pet the pets or wife, wash the car, Yug. Or go beat up on some Ricers.
