Title: EGR rusted
Post by: tyroelite on September 11, 2005, 09:56:01 PM
Ok, so somehow the EGR hose on my engine rusted through and isn't connected anymore.  2 questions...

1) could that be why the car stalls out allllll of the time and has a terribly rough idle

2) would a replacement from a 2.8/3.1 na motor fit the same or is the bung on the exhaust different to the turbo?

Yes it would act like a exhaust leak and cause the car to run poorly....

i replaced mine with a used one i found on a 1989 3.1 N/A GP at a wrecking yard.

same bung on the N/A crossovers and TGP crossovers so it will fit/thread on well.

you will have to cut the heat insulation off to see if its a non cracked/rusted one, suitable as a replacement.

there discontinued from GM so used is more or less the only way to go.....i believe Jeff M has a few brand new ones in his surplus GM stock if you want a new one.
