Title: Newbie question
Post by: dubbsix on October 03, 2005, 08:51:12 AM
Hello All. I am new to TGP's, but i am interested in buying one in my area. Its a 1990 Black with leather. The guy says that the transmisson wont go forward... My question is how much do they transmissions go for.. or how much to have the them rebuilt?

The car has a automatic transmission.  I also wanted to know if there were any shift kits available for this tranny.

hello newbie!  Does it rreally have an automatic? All TGPs have autos unless you put in a manual.

You should love the car once you get the tranny overhauled. Total score that you even saw one for sale. Rare to see one in your town even once in ten years! If you are on the West Side of USA.

Just snatch it up.

Bet it doesn't have the valence panel/Air dam on it anymore.

Not saying it is the only cause for tranny failure, but the 4t60 is a ballsy tranny if you can keep it cool.

Hey! cut me some slack.. I didnt know they all came with autos!

If the tranny is a solid unit they way so many threads about trannay failure on the site?  My plans for this car is just a 300HP street car.  From what i read.. that shouldnt be too hard to accomplish. I have a machine shop that has sponsered my Supercharged thunderbird and they get me head porting cheap :)

Because much more often than not those people that have problems with their car (any car if you check other message boards) go out to the web site to find other owners/message board to talk about those problems, just like you asking about a broke tranny    How often do people, even ourselves come on here to list everything that is working fine with our car

You should fit just fine in a GP, the seats adjust pretty far back/have a ton of adjustablility.  BTW, check your "private messages."

Dude I'm 6'5" and fit in my TGP perfectly. And I still would have room to use a clutch if mine had one  . I also have room to fit 3 5' 11" friends in comfortably.

Do you have a sunroof? I am 6'2" and with the front of the seat down full and the back down almost to the bottom...my head is about 1" from the sunroof bulge...  8)

Yea this one has a sun roof.  I am still quite sure i'll get it.  The car needs a new transmission, its behind in tags and the previous owner used it for drifting.. which leads me to believe ANYTHING could be wrong with the car.

I got a sunroof and my head doesn't touch it.

and I am 6'8"!

I just lean the seat back real far.

It sucks though because I gotta lean forward to see the HUD. :?

Its alright.  gives me a nice gangsta lean 8)
