Title: Real bad gas mileage
Post by: TGPto_restore on October 16, 2005, 10:33:48 AM
Hey all. Suddenly on my drive home today, the TGP started getting 15 MPG cruising down the freeway. The engine was working harder, and boost was at 0 constantly instead of well in the green like usual. The SES light flashed on and off three times as well.

I have newer plugs in it. I have been using 89 octane gas becuase of gas prices, other than that nothing different. Suggestions???

Thanks

Dave

mine did that when the vac lines were melted under the plenum.  pull them off at the TB and blow in them and see if you get resistance or not.  If you can blow through them then its either melted or unplugged. oh, and check and make sure that the map sensor is plugged in still... the clip on mine broke somehow and it came unplugged and stopped working obviously.

Update. Fixed it!

I put premium fuel in it, like before. Cant use the cheaper stuff. Damn.
