Title: Bucking with my 5 speed
Post by: skalor on November 22, 2005, 09:23:18 AM
I'm still getting some bucking when in decel in lower gears(1&2) in my TGP.  It seems to only happen sometime when it's fully warmed up and at lower rpms(<2000).  Here's a stock binary and one with changes I've made to for the 5 speed.

http://www.gmv6.org/binary/AZRC2132.bin ---> stock AZRC
http://www.gmv6.org/binary/5speedTGP.bin ---> modified for 5 speed

Disclaimer:  I'm submitting these for comparison purposes so if anyone uses it and they blow up then that's your own fault.  I think we should have a disclaimer at the top of this sub-forum so that whatever binary is shared here is the end users responsibility and no one else's.   :wink:

I have it on the program ready to load, but I am still waiting for my 29C256 chip to replace the OEM chip.

I have bucking also but I have a feeling that my TPS is bad right at the bottom end of it's travel.

I am going to get to tuning...been a long time and I miss the headaches!! :wink:  :lol:  8)

I made a lot of changes that aren't in the 5 speed patch file, but I think that together we should be able to work out all the driveability issues with the 5 speeds.  I never even thought about the TPS being worn though, so I'll have to look into that.   8)

Give me till the first week of December and I will have chips in hand and ready to play. I did hear of one person who had bucking and with the 5-speed patch it went away only to return about 3 weeks later and then found the TPS was bad.

It also has to do with the VSS I am sure. If the car thinks it is going slower or faster than it is that has to mess with the PCM seeing two values at once.

We will hammer it out along with many other issues. It has just been so damn long since I have been in the chip it will take a few trial and errors again to get up to speed.

I almost think I am going to start over with AZRC, 5-speed patch, and tons of logging to get it completely right. Have a chip for max power, drivable with boost, and "stock" conservative settings with 5-speed fixes.

Anyway...I doubt the chips will show before Turkey Day weekend...but it would be nice to play on the 4 day weekend. 8)

mine bucks REALLY bad; i think it is probably the speedo being way off.  i went out with a handheld GPS today and varified it to be ~27% off.  going an actual 75mph the cluster reads 55mph etc.  wish i could get a laptop and an EPROM programmer but i'm concentrating on getting this TSTE roadworthy right now.

The HUD is ~2 mph off at 100 mph, and the speedo is ~5 mph slow at 100 mph.  Since the HUD is the important one, I would say I'm alright.  This is all according to a speed trap that I came across on the highway one night.   8)

Mind sharing your binary file??  I've already posted mine that has ~24 changes from stock.   8)
