I know some of u guys are havin trouble with the speedo and tachs in our cars.(common problem)I had mine fixed back in 96 by Southern Autotronics in Richmond VA.I called them today to find out what I had to do to fix my cluster again(1-800-476-2880).They said all I half to do is take it out of the car and box it up(they will send a box)I thought to my self how simple and needless to say my box is on the way. They also fix factory radios ,huds and driver information centers. You can also check them out at www.carradio.com. Hope this helps you guys!Later
How much do they charge?
I just called them...Flat fee of $225 according to Adam.
I told him my tach is off 450RPM also. He said they would look at it but within 500RPM is factory spec! 8)
I might have to send them my TGP stereo and guage pod. My tach is some 5000 rpm off. and my speedo, according to my HUD is about 18% off. When my HUD reads 100, which is accurate, my speedo reads 118.
Look at this vid of my run, watch the tach specificly..

try calling Model Electronics at 800-433-9657, give them the part number off the back of your cluster and they will give you a quote. I don't think it should be more than $225, it will probably be cheaper. Also try Specmo Industries, I don't have their number off hand but they are typically cheaper than Model.
site is not loading for me but www.specmo.com is where you want to go, get a # and call them with a part #. Let us know.
EDIT: Specmo (800)545-7910
Since I am broke right now (having to owe some 8000 in taxes), it will be some time. But I will remember this info..
this may call for a sticky, those two places are who I deal with on a daily basis for new(er) GM cars and trucks that need exchange radios/clusters. In fact I may be able to get us a discount if they don't give us fair (dealer  ) pricing.
Holy crap.. $225? What the hell do they replace on the board?
I'll deal with the speedo and tach the way they are for that price. The HUD works fine, and that's all I ever look at anyway.
I still want to know why it seems that only TGP clusters go bad.. I never hear about normal GP clusters acting up.

Ya, i really dont notice regular clusters going bad, isnt that a safty issue also?? Like shouldnt GM be liable for this or a recall

What is the safety issue? The cluster and what the ECM actually sees are not linked. The stock chip has a speed limiter and also a rev limiter. I suppose I could see a potential issue with the speedo being off, but most speedos seem to read faster than actual... 8)

well if there reading super super high you have no idea how fast your really going same if it was reading super slow, may go to fast
Regular GP's of the same era sometimes suffer the same problem. I need to visit an electronics store soon...I'm going to try to fix my speedo myself.

If you find out what needs replaced to fix the problem, let me know please.
Anyone figure out a fix for this?
I have the same problem..... Worst factory instrument cluster EVER!!!
I looked up the service history of my car and the cluster was even replaced at least once already under warranty by a previous owner!
I found a place that can get it fixed for $130, but I'm still looking to see if anyone knows how to do it....
I posted in your other thread
