My TGP fails emissions terribly as you all know.
When the car is sitting idling in closed loop...the BLM snaps to 128 and the INT hovers around 134-147 but not much movement at 1000RPM idle. When the throttle is cracked open and the RPM rises to say 2000 or 2500 the BLM drops to 114-115ish.
At highway speeds on level ground with minimal throttle input to maintain 75MPH (2850RPM in 5th) the BLM sits at 100-108 and the INT goes nutso ballistic like the 02 sensor...I see anywhere from 126-152 but is jumping around like crazy.
Now if I start to pull a small hill the BLM starts to climb to 116ish and the INT is still nutso.
If I see 2.10 on the throttle position the BLM snaps to 128 and the INT 126...but no changes in either.
Now I am assuming that is Open loop when the BLM and INT snap to a value with no change? The status of Open/Closed loop does not change to Open though in the logging software.
So with that said what do the chip tuners have to say to educate me? :wink: 8)
When your in open loop the BLM and INT are locked at 128(no fuel correction)after your in closed loop they will start to hunt for 14.7 afr.INT is short term fuel correction that closed loop uses to shift the calibration towards 14.7 afr as read by the o2.The BLM will absorb the INT.So if INT is low,BLM will decrease and INT will increase till arround 128 and the BLM is near the needed fuel trim.Looks to me like your idle VE is pretty damn close.Do you know how to convert MAP volts to KPA(its a necessity for tuning)When you were at 2850rpm in 5th what were the map volts?When your tune is waaayyy off the INT will jump arround quite a bit seems like ur havin that problem.I would also suggest that you run a heated o2.The non heated o2s take a long time to warm up and if there to cold they give unaccurate readings and sometimes it will jump back and fourth from open loop to closed loop.Later

128 BLM=14.73 stoichiometeric AFR.(ATMK bin)100 BLM Is VERY rich.160 BLM is VERY lean.In a perfect world you would wont a BLM of 128 and INT of 128 at all cruise rpms.More than likely that will never happen.(maybe for a day)What ur trying to do is have a BLM of 124-132ish and a INT that hovers arround 128 at all cruise rpm and idle. :D Later

So on the way home today it was at 109 BLM. The INT was hovering around 135ish. I have Map Load Variable for anything MAP related...is this correct or do I need to get Mark Mansur to ad that to the logging software?
Well MAP Load Variable was at .50 - .67 volts most of the time on level ground to maintain 75MPH with partial throttle.
Now when the car would go to open loop was when it hit 2.10volts which on the boost gauge was just starting to edge into the green. 4.20volts seemed to be full boost which I have set to 11.0psi in the MEMCal. Seems a bit soon to me to hit open loop no?
In the datalogging software (TunerPro RT) it has a flags list. In that list today I noticed one that said "Learn Control - Diasbled". Now is that the BLM learn control or just the driving characteristics learn control? I think I heard sokmewhere along the way in the past that in the code there is a memory stored for how your driving habits are?
Oh well...I need to talk to Mark because I am not setting up the datalogging record properly... 8)

Dave...where does your BLM hover during cruise speeds? You and I are running similar code at this point and curious to know what yours does. I think I have an injector going south and causing the erratic INT anyway...but curious. 8)
if i recall my BLM's at cruisin speeds were 124-129 which took me a month of test test to achieve.
my #24 Bosch injectors has 2 leakers and caused me havoc untill i swaped them for #22 Bosch units.
the #22's were a better match anyway and lessened the range of fueling changes.
my intigrator (INT) cycles steady from 110-135 but im under the inpression its designed to keep compinsating for the fast changes for the driving conditions.

Two things I noticed while looking through TunerPro...a line in the Constants code named:
LO OF HYST PAIR FOR MPH THRESH FOR LEAN CRUISE...this is set to 48MPH
HI OF HYST PAIR FOR MPH THRESH FOR LEAN CRUISE...this is set to 50MPH
Main thing that jumped out at me was LEAN CRUISE. If my ECM is only seeing 40MPH when I am actually doing 80MPH...would this be part of the reason I am running so rich at higher speeds because it has not reached the initial of 48MPH? A shot in the dark I am sure...but never know till you ask right?
Second is my INJECTOR FLOW RATE is set to 23.22? Should this be lowered? :shock:
ya got to get the ECM speed reading correct forsure otherwise you will struggle with the tuning.
don't worry about that table (INJECTOR FLOW RATE)
reduce your table (BPC vs. Desired EGR)
mine is currently at 98 from the 105 stock setting.....my Bosch injectors flow a bit more than the stock GM multitec's
that table will lean you out, but don't jump to big of increments....don't wanna get to lean

I looked at the graph BASE PULSE CONSTANT vs DESIRED EGR and it shows... 0-80% EGR on one axis... then 0 - 255 Constant on the vertical axis.
What does the constant represent?
0 % = 230
25% = 209
50% = 177
75% = 171
80% = 170
Those numbers are seriously higher than what you are describing for your "stock" settings.
Let me know if I am looking at the wrong section or if this thing is just completely wiggy! :wink: :lol: 8)
When lean cruise mode is enabled the ecm switches the AFR from 14.7 to 15.4(atmk bin)Lean cruise mode is for long trips.You can tweek the afr and see huge mileage gains but really has nothing to do with ur problem :cry: Your problem lies in the upper VE table(2400-6000) Looks to me that ur in the 50-70 kpa areas while cruiseing,match that with ur RPMs and that is where you'll start.Given how rich you are might wont to take about 5% of the fuel out of that area and retest and check the BLM for ur results.I would also blend the graph to match what you've changed.I will be the first to admit,I dont know a whole lot about the 8f code I learn something new every day.Thanks for the compliment guys but if it was'nt for people like me I would not even be here.So as you learn be willing to pass it on to others.Thats what makes DIY community go arround.I am curious about the bpc vs desired egr.How does this lean out the system.Where I come from the egr is the first thing to hit the trash can.(emmisions suck).Thanks. :) Later

For tunerpro users I think this is the table he is refering to.INJ FLOW RATE X FUEL CALC BASE CONSTANT.This table is only for idle.If ur running larger than stock injectors you will need to play with this table .Hope this helps. :wink: Later
ya i dunno what it is in Tunerpro cause as i said above i have not used it much.
all i know is my previous "teacher" with the "other" tuner program reccomeded that its best to use that table to lean out the code for the best results trying to hit the 128 mark on the BLM's.
and i did and i had great success :?

I changed the addresing in my .xdf to suit the correct table that Davis is referring to... BPC vs. Desired EGR%
I can forward this new .xdf to you Dave, just get me on MSN sometime. With my 30# injectors my 105 is down near 60 now... runs OK.

Go into the BPC vs. Desired EGR table, change the address to "06E1"... Then the conversion is : "1.000000 * X + 0.000000"
In a stock TGP chip, all your numbers in there should be 105.
I think that's all I did... if that don't work, I can email you the file I made, I may have changed other things that I now forget that I changed.
Try it and let me know.
The table you're looking for is called "DESIRED BOOST PRESSURE BASE" it's RPM vs. Desired boost.
When you find glitches or misprints or improper #'s in graphs and such. Send Mark Mansur an email and he will incorporate it into the updates he creates! :wink: 8)
This might seem like a no brainer..but did you check for vacume leaks, sticking PVC or is PCV. . :lol: , Loose O2, Leaking x-over. HEY..it happens. Even if the x-over is a rebuilt..they might leak from the exhaust manifold ends since the mating surface might not be sealing right after some rust or loosening bolts. It can also be bad injectors all together. Chris A switched to new injectors and most of his fueling problems were gone. Even a bad TPS.
Injectors are a possibility, but the files Adam and I have been playing with have changed the idle characteristics all together. I am beginning to think there were some issues with the AZRC code!?! :shock: :wink: :lol:

My car idles OK, and NEVER stalls, but this is cause I have a high idle. It idles @ 925. Anything lower and it stalls.
