well the time has come. lately i have been very seriously considering parting out my Cutlass for my Turbo STE. there are a few reasons i've been thinking about this:
- i can't afford to modify and/or maintain two project cars
- the Cutlass has parts that could be used on my TSTE that would save me alot of money, namely the rear coilovers and the entire drivetrain and all associated 5-speed parts. i could also then sell a few other things off the Cutlass to make a little money that i could use towards the TSTE before sending the Cutlass to the junkyard.
so i've decided to post it for sale before i part it out. i simply can't keep two project cars going because i need to stop putting school off and start thinking seriously about my future.
the good:
- 3.1 Intercooled Turbo with new gaskets and seals EVERYWHERE. new timing chain and Melling HV oil pump. great oil pressure and runs cool.
- Getrag 282 5-speed shifts perfectly
- new Luk clutch installed August '05 and has never ever slipped
- custom SS turbo support bracket for use with 5-speed
- NICE rebuilt crossover pipe with SS braided flex bellows rebuilt by RedZMonte
- TurboXS RFL BOV
- M&M Racing grainger valve manual boost controller
- TGP/5-speed chip done by Jay (god910)
- K&N cone directly on compressor inlet
- no cat (might be a problem for some) and a straight through muffler
- new FFP billet aluminum dogbones
- dyno proven 227whp and 325wtq
- new alternator
- new serpentine belt and new GM non-AC pulley
- new GM heater core return pipe (the long one)
- new GM spark plug wires and ACDelco R42LTS plugs
- does not leak any fluids
- VERY dependable!
- COMPLETLY rust free. not one spot anywhere i guarantee it.
- Eibach 1.5" drop springs in front
- TDC adjustable rear coilovers with KYBs in back
- 16x8 silver crosslace wheels
- '94+ rear brake conversion
- tires are practically new 225/60s. they are currently on my STE but i will be mounting them back on the crosslace wheels soon.
the bad:
- approximately 240,000 miles but it doesn't show it.
- turbo has one stripped bolt hole (crossover flange). this hasn't been a problem however. it does not leak one bit. turbo is healthy.
- one SMALL dent on rear passenger side door
- BYP skirting is in not-so-great shape
- front BYP bumper cover has a small rip and needs repainting
- speedometer (UB3) is 27% off but could easily be fixed with a handheld GPS and an EPROM burner.
- needs weatherstripping in a few places
- interior is fair. obviously the carpet is worn. it has light gray leather seats from a '90 International sedan but they aren't in all that great of shape. they don't look terrible though.
- dashpad is warped and HUD looks terrible because of this and my lame attempt at cutting the opening for the HUD in the non-HUD dashpad.
- no fog lights in the BYP front bumper cover but i do have the COMPLETE Cutlass fog light harness here.
- due to the rear brake upgrade it currently has no parking brake but i do have the '94+ parking brake cables here.
- rear driver's side window does not work and needs to be fixed.
- has DIC but needs to be wired up
- could probably use new front struts
- one or more of the crosslace wheels are knicked up due to a careless mechanic removing the locking lug nuts (i lost the key :( )
- no air conditioning. i was planning on a FMIC for this car but i have the TSTE now.
any used car out there is likely going to need alot of the same stuff my Cutlass needs. it is very dependable and FAST. the turbo project AND 5-speed conversion were done RIGHT.
i'm asking $1500 firm. i would be willing to trade but ONLY for a rust free Turbo STE with power moonroof.
I'd be intrested in a number of parts (rear brakes, parking brake setup, front eibachs, & crosslaces w/ tires) if you decide to part it out.
Hopefully you sell it though, hate to see a decent cutlass parted out. 8)
Wish ya were closer and i would snap that up....
hope ya sell it in one piece Josh :)
Cutlass has been sold....and yes in one piece :)
