Ok, Got the car running with the new turbo, but 2 things... One, Turbo wrap is smoking after running, whats up with that? And 2, Car is running really hot, all this after doin the turbo.
All things being equal I bet you have air in your coolant lines. Need to do the proper air bleed procedure. My new turbo wrap smoked a little and smelled a little as I remember. Probably just burning off some resins or other temporary substances.
I fixed the cooling problem, air in the lines, and the turbo stuff smoking was only just the oil and grease off our hands while installing the turbo and wrap
Just a question where did you find a new turbo... i can't find one.. i am looking to replace mine on my tgp..... thanks for the info...
Pull your old one, box it up, and send it to Dallas Turbo, call Mike if you want, he did my rebuild, and the thing looked like brand new. Be sure to send the wastegate valve, and he will also test it for proper operation.
He does quality work, fast, and very economically. I can recommend them without a doubt, he even called when mine got there and when he shipped it so I knew it's status every day!!
Good luck.
I went through turbochargers.com, and it works like a champ. cost me near $870 with shipping because I went to a stage 1 upgrade and my turbine housing was shot. It would have been down around 500 sumthin if the housing wasn't bad.
