Title: problem from a few days ago just got to post
Post by: tyroelite on March 06, 2006, 07:07:38 PM
so anyone else get that snow on this past thursday?  It was not so much snow here, mostly ice and sleet, hail the whole bit.  Well, school was not closed but my first class was.  Second class at 2:30 just had to drop off my midterm paper.  Well, made it to class fine and then on the way back down the hill realized just how icy it was.  There's a really steep hill with a 90 degree bend to the left that you can see around and a blind corner after that down more of the hill.  yea, so even though I was going pretty slow, i started sliding at the first hill towards the guard rail.  was able to get the car steered back around towards the road by going into the other lane but the second part, not knowing if there was a car coming or not made that not an option.  tried my damndest  to get it around the corner but just slid sideways into the rail.  Tapped the front fender and scrapped the side a bit and tapped the back quarter just in front of the tail light. Thank goodness for all that body panneling on the side of these things, it only got some scratches that I can paint up pretty easy.  Front fender will have to be replaced as will the rear fender flare.  Rear quarter may be a bit tougher but I think i might be able to get it fixed up pretty well.

Anyhow, I hate that teacher and school for not plowing/icing :(

and that's my rant for the evening. I can post pics if anyone cares but t may be a day or two.

Also, thinking of swaping out my front bumper for the newer style GPs bumpers and the 91 style headlights... not sure yet. Any thougts?

Dont swap to the newer bumper/head lights, thats really the only thing that visually sets the TGP apart from other Grand prixs, and personally i think the composite head lights look better than the mini quads

one other thing i forgot to mention is that my front bumper got a small whole/crack punched in it on the corner/side.

hmm... if only i had cash for that fiberglass front bumper/fenders, hood etc.

Where are you located? I have a red TGP bumper in good physical shape (paint's pretty good too though). I won't ship it though.

and big thumbs down to the miniquad/'91+ swap.. I too think the composites look much better.

Im at school in Hazleton PA.  Bout 20 mins south of wilkesbarre/scranton area.  you?

Im still pondering what bumper i want.  Maybe I'll go with the newer style that has the 2 ridges don the side and the round fog lights set into the bumper... I posted about this on other boards and its funny, seems people who have a tgp like the tgp front, people who have/had the newer style like that... the impartials however are leaning towards the newer front.  I think it will depend on what I can find.  If i foud a black gp with the newer style tomorrow I'd have it on the next day. If I found a nice black bumper with our style, itd be the answer.
